Majors: I really don't know that much about the internships here, but I do plan on getting one once I am eligible and when the right time comes around. Many of my friends and family members who are in college have had internships of some sort and most seem to enjoy them and learn a lot on the job.

3 College Junior

Weather: When it rains almost everyday and its hard to get to class on time.

4 College Junior

Diversity: This university is very open to diversity and offer many opportunities for everyone.

Transportation: The FSU campus offers a 'safe' bus for students at night who feel insecure walking home alone, which is convenient. The main or daytime buses for FSU are less so as the schedule for pickups are routinely ignored and added with the extra time for additional stops and circumnavigating the campus, thee better option is to walk even if the destination is off the FSU property.

4 Niche User

Technology: There are many computers available throughout the campus. Watch out during midterm/finals weeks because it will be difficult to find one, but there's always a computer lab in some building that will be open.

Health & Safety: At times, you can get into the sketchier parts of Tallahasee, when you probably won't feel too safe. Other than that, it's easy to stay safe.

Party Scene: Nightlife is not only for student 21+, but also has great options for those 18+, which is most students. Not many house parties, the clubs are for those who like that scene, and the bars are more social.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: B for average. Some nicer dorms, and some not so nice.

4 Recent Alumnus

Campus Quality: The campus is gorgeous, cohesive, and walkable with lots of green space and trees. The library is amazing with lots of resources and a Starbucks.

Academics: The PoliSci dept is highly quantitative and the faculty publish regularly. There are plenty of options for undergraduate research.

Campus Food: They have good options on campus like Papa Johns and Chiles if you ever get tired of eating in dining halls.

Weather: It's mostly sunny, but it may start to rain out of nowhere. The winters here are mild as well.

Health & Safety: FSU has a great police force on campus. They are always willing to help anyone.

Guys & Girls: Too preppy. They act like they're too good for you unless you're a part of their organization

Off-Campus Dining: I love the places off campus. Mostly affordable and good food as well

4 College Sophomore

Diversity: People are ethnically and culturaly diverse. Easy to make friends

Drug Safety: FSU does have a reputation for being a "party school". While this is not unfounded, if you have no desire to become involved in drugs or alcohol, there isn't much peer pressure to do so. Even at parties, people who are drinking or doing drugs don't necessarily care what the others are doing. That being said, alcohol is very visible, particularly at parties and tailgates, and drugs are common among students. I would say that drinking is much more common than drug usage.

Campus Quality: FSU has some great buildings - as well as a few really outdated ones. Most of the dorms are really nice and modern compared to other schools, and more and more dorms are being built to having private bedrooms with shared common spaces, to allow for privacy for the students. The gym is always busy, and the equipment is often being used causing a wait for those wishing to work out, but FSU has remedied this by building a secondary, smaller fitness center in the new Health and Wellness Center (which is also the new clinic and Dr. offices). Most classroom buildings are great - spacious, and even the older buildings have more modern technology in them. FSU has wonderful campus security, so if students are careful, getting around on campus at night shouldn't be a problem.

Guys & Girls: Most of the people at Florida State have an immense amount of school pride. All types of people are seen here from frat boys to gamers.

Weather: Weather at Florida State University is fairly unpredictable. During the summer months umbrellas, ponchos, and rain boots are definitely recommended. It has the tendency to be absolutely beautiful one minute and suddenly will down pour the very next. It tends to be quite hot and muggy during these months as well. However, fall and winter are gorgeous. Seasons actually exist in Florida. It gets pretty chilly during the winter time, but is a nice break from the typical Florida weather.

Local Area: The town is a quaint place and offers lots to do besides campus. The scenery is beautiful and the entertainment options are limitless.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: Parking permits are rather expensive and the parking spaces are limited. There is a set fine for parking violations which seems to be unfair in certain situations.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a variety of restaurants in the location of FSU. There is something for every persons liking. Coming from a smaller town, I was not use to the vast selection of restaurant choices.

4 College Senior

Parking: Parking decals are free now, which is a change from when I attended before, a great addition, one still has to be mindful of what times to arrive at campus for best parking availability.

Health & Safety: I have never had an occurrence of feeling unsafe on campus, the campus police and its security affiliates do a great job.

You would be hard-pressed to find a graduate of Florida State University who doesn’t have fond memories of the years they spent on campus. Current students will also agree that they are happy with their decision to attend school here. There is something for everyone, from athletics to academia, and you would have a hard time finding a more comfortable setting than Tallahassee.
