Party Scene

2 College Freshman

Party Scene: The only bar nearby was closed due to a tragic accident with a student here. It's a dry campus so drinking must be kept on the down low but it still happens.

2 College Freshman

Party Scene: There really isn't a party experience. If that is what a student needs at their college of choice then FSC is not for you.

Party Scene: The nightlife is horrible. Party scene is awful. There are none.

1 College Freshman

Party Scene: There is no party scene. Greeks don't have houses. We drink in our rooms and I had more fun in high school.

3 College Senior

Party Scene: Kaus is really the only bar in Lakeland, at least the only bar that accepts 18+. They have a huge problem with underage drinking. No real transportation system. FSC is kind of in denial.

The parties that occur on campus are mostly hosted by Greek organizations or by athletic teams. While some are promoted with posters and flyers throughout campus, the party scene is not a main focal point of campus, which is the case for some schools. House parties do happen, but Florida Southern is a dry campus, so you won't find much drinking.

Bars and clubs are easily accessible, especially when using a designated driver. Walking may not always be the best idea, but the locations are not that far away. The bars and clubs are also very affordable, with a wide variety of drink specials. However, in the Lakeland area, there aren't very many choices, so if the couple of bars and clubs are getting boring, there are always other places to try out in Tampa and Orlando. In this case, it may be easier to make a weekend out of it and find somewhere to stay in the city. For those who are still underage, many options are available. Some of clubs and bars offer an underage cover charge, so it is still possible to go to the various bars and clubs. However, if a bar or club does not sound appealing, going to the movies or hanging out at a late-night restaurant are good choices.

Organization Parties
Different organizations will throw parties, but they should not be confused with any type of house party. These parties generally have food, music, and sometimes games. They are a way for students to have fun without leaving campus, especially for students that are not 21.
