Off-Campus Dining

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: I don't eat at fast food restaurants but I know that the most popular ones nearby would definitely be Chipotle. I do however go to walmart for most of my grocery shopping and I am fairly happy with that

Off-Campus Dining: It works out great if you have a car to get to places as you wish, otherwise you are out of luck

Off-Campus Dining: I'm vegan so I usually stay at chipotle, moe's, abuelo's, saigon and tea largo (my personal favorite). Not a whole lot of vegan/vegetarian options however.

Off-Campus Dining: There's the standard chain restaurants, and a couple places like ihop are open really late but its your basic stuff. Chipotle, Five Guys, Taco Bell, McDonald's, etc.

Off-Campus Dining: I don't dine off campus often, only when someone comes to pick me up when I go home for the weekend. I don't have a car. There's nothing really within walking distance, but you can rent a bike and go downtown if you want. I haven't explored downtown so I don't know much about the dining options there. There's an Olive Garden a couple miles from the school, as well as a Denny's, Cracker Barrel, Smokey Bones, Starbucks, and fast food chains like McDonald's and Burger King.

Lakeland has a wide variety of restaurants, especially for how small the city is. There are many fast food and sit-down options, all very close to the school. As such, there is an option for any occasion, whether it is a date night or just a quick bite before class. The close proximity to campus is a good thing because there are no fast food restaurants on campus. If a student is looking for a place to eat, going down one of the main streets, such as US 98 or Bartow Road, has many restaurant options. There are also several shopping areas that are surrounded by places to eat, so a shopping trip could be combined with a meal off campus.

Besides fast food fare, there are also many small, locally-owned restaurants. This variety is good when family or friends come to visit a student because the student can share a restaurant that is unique to Lakeland. Lakeland has a couple of options for healthy dining, but there aren't many. If students wish to cook for themselves, the area is close to rural areas, so there are farmers' markets from time to time, when fresh produce is available; especially around the different seasons (such as strawberry season), fresh produce will be plentiful.
