3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: There needs to be better lines of communication.

2 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Need to have more options and longer hours.

2 College Sophomore

Athletics: Men's soccer is the best but they don't have a field for them.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Santa Claus does not exist but the Easter bunny rocks.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: Not the best, not the worst.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: They are not well organized but you'll get what you want if you insist

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: There are very good and very bad days. Tastes for everyone. I understand that it's not easy to please everyone though

4 College Freshman

Academics: The workload is pretty heavy, but not unbearable. It's exactly what's needed to push you further into greatness.

Campus Quality: Athletics is a big deal on campus. Therefore, most dorms have a gym that can be used by students. Also There is a new gymnasium/auditorium being built which will enclose different facilities.

3 College Freshman

Local Area: It's pretty awesome, but you won't get the best experience if you don't have personal transportation.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Everywhere you go there is going to be a variety, life would be pretty boring if everyone was the same. For the most part, everyone is awesome in their own right.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There are hardly ever any safety issues on campus.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I had a wonderful experience, mostly because of fellow students.

Off-Campus Housing: Our school doesn't provide off campus housing, but there are many apartment complexes in miramar that are safe and have good parking and prices. Miami Gardens isn't the best place to find safe apartment complexes, so Miramar who's us right on the border line of dade and broward is the best place to start looking for off campus housing.

Off-Campus Dining: Being that we are a small university in Miami Gardens, we really don't have a lot of options. On 183rd st and 47th av is where all the convent food places are such as McDonalds, KFC, Wendy's, Captian Crab, Churches, Taco Bell, and further down is Popeyes. For the students from Miami there is a small corner store called Strawberries and the serve hot food, strawberries is usually a late night food run.

Party Scene: Parties at our school are usually fun if it's open to off campus students. Florida Nemorial is a small school so things usually turn out better when off campus students such as FIU/FAU/UM/BARRY/JWU students are allowed to attend. Many student organizations host events that are only for on campus students but those turn out to be fun. Having social events or parties in the middle of the week or at the end of the week serve as "breathers" for us students. Working hard and doing homework begins to take a toll on Imms, so we need something to let lose and have fun.

Administration: The policies at our school should be a little more enforced. When you actually need security they take about 30 minutes to come see what is the problem. I was locked out of my dorm room one weekend and the head RA was gone. So I had to call security to open my room door. I waited a full hour for them to finally show up. They are very strict about the dorm visitation. We are not co-Ed so they are always on the lookout for boys sneaking in the girl dorms or girls sneaking in the boy dorms. Also if there is a fight security seems to show up right as the crowd starts to form.

Scholarships: My financial aid advisor is awesome! He came to my high school and told me everything that I needed to apply and after I got accepted in the spot, I stayed after school and he worked with me in the library to apply for financial aid. The students who work for work study in the front end of the financial aid office are not nice at all. One girl in particular has a horrible attitude. But all of the advisors are very helpful and they stay on top of you when it comes to meeting document deadlines.

Campus Food: The cafe food isn't always nasty but it's not always the best either. The only constant tasty foods in the cafe is the taco/nacho station and the cookies they serve for dessert. Sometimes the cafe tries to serve new kinds on foods and in my opinion most of the new food they try to serve us taste horrible. Also, the cafe food tends to send people straight to the bathroom.... If you know what I mean. The sub shop is the best food source to me. You can never go wrong with a sub or sandwhich. the Pizza Hut is horrible, it's too greasy and the pizza smells horrible.

Campus Housing: Living in campus isn't that bad. As long as you pay your room deposit early so that you would be placed in the newer dorms. Building 2 and four are the new dorms for girls. You have many options to choose from such as a semi private where you only have one roommate and there's a half wall dividing your side from your roommates side and you share a bathroom and common area. That is the cheapest room. Next you have a quad which is 4 private rooms, two bathrooms and one common area. There you have 3 roommates. The quad is the second cheapest, but the quads fill up quick, there's only 2 quads in each building. The most expensive room is the two bedroom private. There are two private rooms and you have only one roommate. You share a bathroom and common area. The new buildings are comfortable but sometimes we have problems with the hot water early in the morning and sometimes on the weekends. Robinson hall is the older dorm. I personally have never lived in Robinson hall but from what I've seen, it is filthy. The community bathrooms are disgusting and it's always freezing cold in that building. If you live in Robinson, there is 4 girls to each room, you cannot control your own air condition, the bathrooms are community bathrooms, meaning all the girls on that particular floor share one big bathroom with toilet stalls, about 5 sinks and possible 8 showers. Usually the athletes get put in Robinson along with the freshman and upper class man who paid their room deposit last minute.

Athletics: The sports are good at m school. The gym is being rebuilt and made into an arena. So the sports teams, such as basketball have been playing at other colleges, and practicing at a college or high school gym. Their performance is was not their best but I guess that is what comes along with not having a gym at the moment. The soccer team is great and the volley-ball team is great too.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Our school does not have off campus housing facilities. Either you just find something on your own, or you and your friends could split the cost and get an apartment close by the school.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: The off- campus dining options are nice in my opinion. There are nice southern cooking around the corner from the school. There are also foreign restaurants to eat at since it is Miami. The cost of meals are great. Knowing that college kids spend most of their money on food they make the prices convenient for us. There are not any student discounts but the rices are cheap. A great place to check out is "Golden Krust". They provide the Jamaican style of food. Another place is "Strawberries". "Strawberries" is a southern style place to grab something to eat and chill with your friends. The prices of both places are cheap and easy to pay for.

Party Scene: The party scene at my school is pretty nice. I love the diversity of the different cultures, because I am not used to it. They have different varieties of music and attire. But some of the best parties take place off campus because it is spacious. This has a great impact on the student experience of "college life."

Administration: The campus strictness is okay. The main issue that I can speak for everyone on is making the university co-ed. People do not just hang out with their gender, it's mixed. The visitation is okay, some people from of campus would like to come on to our campus for different school functions, but the security is not allowing them to enjoy our festivities.
