4 College Freshman

Technology: The computers are easily accessible but it is best to have your own computer and printer for your convenience!

3 College Sophomore

Technology: There are plenty of computers available for students. The internet connection sucks for those who use their own laptops.

4 College Sophomore

Technology: Florida Gulf Coast University could use some more available computer labs (especially during finals) and a more reliable network (preferably one that doesn't crash during class registration and finals), but overall great to have.

5 College Freshman

Technology: I have no complaints when it comes to technology matters at FGCU. I feel it is necessary to own personal computers because of the convenience, accessibility, and flexibility of them. There are computer labs students have access to 24/7 but it is much more comfortable and easy to just have a personal computer and handle business in a more flexible matter. For a student like myself that does not own a printer, I would say it is not necessary to own one. The library charges a simple fee of 6 cents a page for as much things you need to print for. When it comes down to network reliability and speed I would say they are pretty decent. In the few cases I have had trouble with connecting to internet or slow connection I have put to great use the Ethernet cord that housing provided to me for free. I would simply plug the Ethernet cord into my computer and into the wall internet slot and the majority of connection problems would become solved. I have no complaints about the all around campus WiFi.

Most students feel that there are enough computers and that these computers are fast. There are tons of computers available on campus, mainly in the library, but usually you can always find a seat somewhere. The network is reliable, and the speed is decent; however, it depends on how many students are online. Overall, the Internet, computer speed, and reliability are all above average. While the University might be able to use more study labs, the library is pretty big, so it makes up for what FGCU lacks.

Overall, there are plenty of computers, and the Internet is speedy and reliable. If you bring your laptop to campus, it is also easy to connect to the Internet.
