Transportation: This is more an issue of Florida infrastructure rather than the school's. The school does provide a bus system which from all accounts is fairly reliable. FAU is also located near two international airports. However the train only goes as far north as West Palm and therefore not a viable option for me.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: A car is necessary to get around places outside of campus.

5 College Junior

Transportation: I drive to campus and there is always a parking spot available, that is not too far away from my classes.

Transportation: If you are living on campus cost of transportation is very minimal. Bus fare is free to you as a student and so is the campus shuttle. Driving your own car is an option, however, the decal that is MANDATORY for parking is approximately $30 a semester. If you are a commuter and do not live on campus then there is an option to take the train which will then connect to the bus station and then to the school. The train is not free however there is a reduced fare for students. You may also drive your car to school if you do not live at school however the mandatory decal is the same as previously mentioned and you must count on how much gas will cost you from wherever you are driving from.

If you're planning on heading off campus often, a car is a must-have. The local bus does make stops throughout campus, but it's not too reliable or consistent. The Tri-Rail station is close by, but you have to either get a ride or catch the bus to get there. If none of these are possibilities, then your best bet is to catch a ride with a friend.
