Guys & Girls

Guys & Girls: There is always going to be those girls and guys that you will have specific problems with such as looks, how they dress, how they act, or their overall personalities. I can say that most of all the guys and girls who participate in frats and sororities are usually stuck up and will only associate with you if you are in the same group as them or similar. However, all the guys and girls who were in the same major as me were all such genuine, caring, and most outgoing group of people I have ever met. I think it really depends on who shares the same interests as you is where you are going to gain most of your friendships and possibly relationships. I even met my current boyfriend now in one of my classes and a year and half later we are still together for a lot of reasons and sharing the same interest helps. At the end of the day, if you do not have a conversation with someone then you should not judge them with how they act or look like on the outside.

For the most part, guys and girls at FAU are laid-back and friendly. While the town is known for ritzy, snobby people, students at FAU are generally the opposite of that stereotype. Everyone wants to make friends and meet new people. Most guys on campus have that surfer/skater style going on. Some girls are cool, while others wear too much makeup and wobble to class in heels (these women are sometimes called "Boca Brats").

If it's 80 degrees and humid outside and you're walking to class and you see a girl dressed to the nines in high heels, she is probably trying way too hard. There are many good-looking, and some not so good-looking, students of both sexes. It's pretty easy to find someone to get along with at this school.

Facts & Statistics

Female Undergrads
Male Undergrads
Birth Control Available?
Prescriptions are available to students after evaluation and consultation.
Social Scene
Students are fairly social. They wouldn't normally just approach you on campus, but they are generally willing to make new friends and include everyone.
Hookups or Relationships?
Most people are not in a relationship and hook up with three or four people in their first few months alone.
Dress Code
During the day, girls mostly wear shorts and tank tops or dresses, and guys wear T-shirts and shorts. For nightlife, guys typically wear a nice Ed Hardy or Polo shirt with jeans, and girls wear a beaded or flashy tank top and jeans. It is usually in the 80s around here, so students dress in cool, laid-back clothes.
