Greek Life: The greek life is okay

Athletics: The sports plays a big deal at the school.

Off-Campus Housing: I lived with my mom .

Off-Campus Dining: I'm fine with the off-campus dining something else to do besides being on campus.

Administration: I'm very pleased with the campus strictness. They are very concern with our safeness and happy with that

3 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: For incoming student they should have a way for them to print. But other than that it is very self explanatory.

Campus Food: I'm okay with the campus food. I do not have a problem.

Campus Housing: I'm very pleased with the campus as well as housing they have a strict rulebook that they follow and I'm am very pleased they care about our safety and concern.

Athletics: Fau has the worst school spirit; absolutely no students come to football games even though our stadium is amazing. Only Greek life students attend football tailgates and games but there's only so many Greeks which barely fill half of the student section during games. Greek life students are the only ones carrying sport involvement such as intramural flag football, softball, etc.

Off-Campus Housing: Boca probably has the nicest off campus housing compared to UF or FSU. Everything is new and looks great, UniversityPark, Addison, and Windwood are the top three off campus housings and they are extremely nice, but very very pricey. Windwood is a strict gated community and somewhat reasonably priced and one minute from campus. FAU helps through their networks but usually a realtor is involved when looking for apartments here.

Off-Campus Dining: Boca Raton is a city and not a college town so there are a ton of diverse restaurants and healthy options. There's whole foods, vegan smoothie places, a fresh organic food market within a 5 mile radius of FAU. Costs are expensive, restaurants are super convenient to campus; only 5 minutes away theres a blaze pizza, Brooklyn water bagel, chipotle, pei wei, sushi, etc. The best place to checkout is Mizner, they have a ton of really nice restaurants there but it is more upper class dinning

Party Scene: Its nothing compared to FSU, but FAU does have a party life. I've been to Pike parties, Sig Ep, Phi Delt, ATO, and even AEPi. They have off campus unofficial houses that a lot of brothers live in and are designated the "sig ep" or "pike" which hold parties.

4 College Junior

Administration: My friend was caught smoking weed in the dorms and was immediately kicked out, as well as her other two roommates that were also smoking. They have no tolerance for drugs in the dorm rooms. FAU has also kicked off two fraternities in the past two years that violate their moral codes such as hazing and alcohol abuse.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: When I was a sophomore at FAU I had a few problems with the financial aid office in regard to my transient student forms. I was only enrolled in three courses at FAU and in order to be a full time student and recieve full time student FASFA aid I took a class at PBSC, but my forms did not go through in order to help me get my money. It was a complicated process in the financial aid office but eventually they helped me to fill the correct paperwork out.

Campus Food: I have never had a meal plan or flex bucks. But i have eaten at almost every restaurant on FAU campus including the dining hall which has average food such as burgers, salads, pizza, the basic foods. The Breezeway cafe has average food as well with Juiceblendz which is expensive as well as the Chinese and taco place which are also expensive.

4 College Junior

Campus Housing: Very modern housing units, similar to apartments (UVA/ IVA/ Parliament). Super clean and even the oldest dorm is roomy and spacious (GPT/ IRT).

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I feel very safe on campus.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: There's not a large Greek presence on the Jupiter Campus.

College Sophomore

Athletics: I attend the Jupiter campus, and the only athletic facilities we have on campus are a tennis court, a volleyball court, and a basketball court, none of which I use.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are a few really good places across the street from the Jupiter campus, and there's a Starbucks, Publix, and Jersey Mike's within walking distance. There are also a few fast food places that provide late-night options.

College Sophomore

Party Scene: I don't really participate in parties, but there seems to be one near Jupiter every few months or so.

5 College Sophomore

Administration: The administration is very helpful, and wants nothing more than to see their students succeed. Although they say they have a no tolerance policy for drugs and underage drinking, they've been pretty lenient as far as I can tell as long as it's not a common problem. The only rules in terms of visitation overnight are that the visitors must be checked into housing and they have to be accompanied by a student when in the res halls.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I applied to the school after scholar's day so I missed most of the scholarships, but there are plenty for incoming freshman. The options are more limited for upperclassman, so I suggest applying early.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: I attend the Jupiter campus, and we don't have any restaurants on campus. The dining hall is hit or miss, and there's not a lot of variety, but the staff are all very friendly, and will help you if you ask them politely.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I attend the Jupiter Campus, but my experience with housing has been wonderful. We each have our own bedroom, while sharing a living room and bathroom with three other people (4 beds per suite). My biggest complaint would be that there is no kitchen in housing, so your only real options are dining hall, microwavable food, or going out to eat.

View student contributors

For most students, FAU was not their first-choice school. While it is a large school, most students are commuters, and it seems as though almost anyone can be accepted. However, once students arrive on campus, they realize that there are many activities and events to get involved with and that maybe their experience will not be so bad after all.

FAU is an up-and-coming school and is growing in students and facilities every year. However, most students do not plan to attend for their entire college career. Many are just using FAU to get their feet on the ground and to get general education classes out of the way. A huge percent of the student population transfers after two years to a larger, more college-town type of school.
