Off-Campus Housing: University Park, University View, and University Square are three options directly behind campus on 20th Street. They are going to have a shuttle that goes to all three properties and takes students to school. They are all beautiful and each offer something different for the interested students.

Off-Campus Dining: I have not yet lived as an off campus diner, but when I do, I think it will be very easy for me to find food.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: I don't enjoy living on campus because of RA's and I want to have my own bedroom and bathroom.

2 College Sophomore

Party Scene: There is really no place for students to host parties and Boca Raton is not really a 'college town' yet, it is still developing places to go out and have fun.

4 College Sophomore

Administration: It's really just like any normal university. Obviously some of the officers will enforce more strictly, but FAU is definitely really serious about parking.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Food: I really like the food on campus. I feel like there is a lot of variety and something for everyone to enjoy compared to some other schools I have visited.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: It was a very self explanatory process that took place mostly online.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Security is on campus, there are boxes located around campus to call security, and rides available so students don't need to walk alone late at night.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Plenty of options within a close distance from the school.

3 College Freshman

Administration: Campus has a very regulated parking system that I think is fine. Visitors have plenty of parking options and students have specific areas they can park.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: I have been on campus and was happy to find Starbucks. I have not eaten in the cafeteria but have heard positive comments about it.

2 College Freshman

Scholarships: Even though I need aid I am very unhappy to learn I will get little to no financial aid. And Florida's Bright Futures offers me aid but only if I attend a technical school.

2 College Senior

Athletics: Athletic facilities are limited for the average student. The main campus in Boca Raton should have more than one fitness center. And the campus near me in Jupiter has none, so I have to register through the school for a limited gym membership that take about a month or more to find out if I was approved, and have to repeat the process every semester.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: The school is located in Boca Raton, FL, so prices are usually higher, parking is horrible, but if you get passed that there are some good options. The Biergarten is a nice one.

3 College Senior

Administration: I haven't had any personal negative experiences with the Administration, but the school did go through a rough patch with the hierarchy a few year back.

3 College Senior

Campus Food: Dinning hall is probably the best food for the best value, but is located at the opposite end of campus from most classrooms.

2 College Senior

Scholarships: Get applications in as early as possible because you'll have to correct the financial aid offices mistakes.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I literally sit on hold for 20 minutes each time i call the financial aid office and no one will help me in person. they say i need to either call or email but no one answers my emails in a timely manner either.

3 College Student

Off-Campus Housing: there are a lot of places to live but there are completely different prices.

Scholarships: The process of financial aid is tricky, Just be ready to request copies of tax transcripts.

4 College Student

Campus Food: The food is great, just not always the most pocket friendly for a college student.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: UPark is the place to be.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

For most students, FAU was not their first-choice school. While it is a large school, most students are commuters, and it seems as though almost anyone can be accepted. However, once students arrive on campus, they realize that there are many activities and events to get involved with and that maybe their experience will not be so bad after all.

FAU is an up-and-coming school and is growing in students and facilities every year. However, most students do not plan to attend for their entire college career. Many are just using FAU to get their feet on the ground and to get general education classes out of the way. A huge percent of the student population transfers after two years to a larger, more college-town type of school.
