Party Scene

5 College Freshman

Party Scene: Tons of parties Thursdays through Saturdays. Some of them are pretty packed, but if you play sports or join Greek life you'll definitely know someone throwing one. There's also a ton a bars to go to if you're 21+.

5 College Freshman

Party Scene: Lots of parties all weekend. I think it makes the experience that much better.

Party Scene: I love the people I meet while I am out.

2 College Sophomore

Party Scene: Most parties are at wicked ghetto apartments right off campus. Super packed, no room to move around, hot sweaty and gross. Only thing that is good here is smaller get togethers in a house or apartment off campus. Rarely any good parties, all though spree day (last day of classes) is usually outside all day at different apartments and that is really fun.

4 College Junior

Party Scene: The best parties take place on off campus apartments. The parties are great. Very fun and full of life. You have to be invited to the parties you cannot just show up, unless you know the person throwing the party. The apartments get pretty full of people and theres usually no room for chairs which in my opinion is great so everyone can dance! The parties start pretty late and end pretty late unless campus police comes and shuts the party down. But that mostly never happens. I love the parties at Fitchburg State!

Student Author OverviewWhat's this?

View student contributors

About 50 percent of the students that live on campus go home on the weekends to work, visit friends and family, or go on short weekend trips. With such a quiet campus on the weekends, most parties happen during the week, mainly on Thursdays. Many of the parties are hosted in off-campus houses. Sometimes you have to pay ahead of time to secure your spot at the party. Some hosts put a limit to how many people can go so that it doesn't attract the attention of the locals or police.

There is one club near campus, Whiskey Alley, that is very popular with the students. There are a handful of bars close to campus, such as JR's, Destare, and Slattery's Restaurant. If you are looking for a bigger party atmosphere, your best bet is to take the train into Boston. There is a club, Throwed, that has themed nights once a week at the Middle East. Many students get really into those nights and take group trips into the city for those parties. Students that are underage tend to find their way when they get to campus. Sometimes this can be following the 21-plus crowd, and other times it is going to the campus events put together by the Fitchburg Activities Board.
