3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Off campus housing is pretty expensive around here so it keeps most students either living at home or on campus.

Off-Campus Housing: I have never lived off-campus, so I don't really know about what it is like. Some of my classmates did have an apartment off campus. They said that it was very pricey, but it was worth it.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I do not dorm, but it sounds like housing is great.

Off-Campus Housing: The area around FDU is super expensive, so it's hard to find affordable housing.

Off-Campus Housing: I live on campus, but I hear off campus it can be annoying especially with weather, neighbors not liking college students around, and distance.

Fairleigh Dickinson does not own any off-campus housing, so for those who do not wish to live in the dorms, it is up to them to find their own housing. There are plenty of places to live close to school in Madison, but the prices are much higher than in the neighboring towns. Most students who choose to live off campus live roughly 15 minutes away in Morristown, which is much cheaper than Madison.

Due to the high cost of living on campus, many students find that off-campus housing is cheaper than the room and board charges at FDU; however, people who live in off-campus housing are then listed as "commuters," and as commuters they are typically not allowed to have meal plans on campus, making them look elsewhere for food. Commuter students are in charge of finding their own parking on campus, as the only lots for commuter students are by the academic buildings and not near any of the dorms.
