Party Scene: On campus parties are lame. Better to go off-campus.

Party Scene: It's the typical party scene: a lot of drunk students, a lot of one-night stands

Party Scene: Frat parties are fun when you're a freshman or sophomore, but the upperclassmen usually pass and go to Buckhead to party instead. There are plenty of people that go out every weekend. There are people that go out every night of the week and some that never go out at all. Most Emory students really value their studies so if they're overwhelmed with work and have to stay in their friends will understand.

Emory students benefit immensely from going to school near a city as unique and exciting as Atlanta. Emory has a very vibrant social scene for all students, ranging from on-campus frat parties to downtown nightclubs and bars. Every few weeks, there are promotional events downtown at certain nightclubs, and these venues often fill up fast with Emory students. Tuesday and Thursday nights are usually big nights for off-campus events, while the weekends usually consist of various themed fraternity parties followed up by a nightcap at Maggie's.

Some students claim this routine gets old fast, so they experiment with various bars and clubs in Midtown, Buckhead, Little Five Points, and the Highlands. These areas contain many unique spots and quickly become favorites to some students. Most clubs and bars are 21-and-up, but usually the college nights or promotional events are 18-and-up, resulting in an extremely overcrowded venue teeming with inebriated teenagers. Maggie's is extremely lax when it comes to fake IDs, and students often joke that they could get in using a person's ID who is a different race. But be wary, the clubs and bars downtown are more strict, and many students who don fake IDs end up getting them confiscated.

Bar ListingsWhat's This?

Neighbor's Pub

Neighbor's is usually filled with yuppies, but there is also almost always an Emory section, too. This bar in the Highlands has a huge deck, which is wonderful on nice spring and summer nights, and is within walking distance of numerous other bars.

752 N. Highland Ave. NE

(404) 872-5440

Nest Bar & Grill

Brand new bar that opened just this year. Located around the corner from Clairmont campus and down the street from Toco Hills, some students prefer this to Maggie's. Tuesday nights are the best time to come here.

1371 Clairmont Road NE

(404) 633-6692

Maggie's Neighborhood Bar & Grill

Basically Famous's neighbor, Maggie's attracts an all-Emory crowd almost any night of the week and treats the youngsters well, too. This very small bar is often so crowded that it gets hard to move, but people keep flocking back every night. This is a great place to find cheap drinks and cheap college students, which mix perfectly together.

2937 N. Druid Hills Road NE

(404) 636-5300

Famous Pub

A huge sports bar nestled in a strip mall near school, Famous is a great place to spend a football Sunday or a weekend night for their cheap drinks and good food. Don't try your fake ID here, though-they can always spot an Emory youngster.

2947 N. Druid Hills Road NE

(404) 633-3555

LuLu's Bait Shack

LuLu's is known for their $1 drinks for girls on Tuesdays, their enormous upstairs with great views in all directions, and most importantly, their fishbowls. These plastic fishbowls are filled with grain alcohol and punch, served on the rocks, with as many straws as you have friends to help you drink one.

Six Flags Over Georgia

(770) 739-3400

While Emory used to offer underage club nights on Thursdays, the Atlanta City Council recently passed an ordinance that prohibits anyone under the age of 21 from going to clubs. Unfortunately, this limits the choices for underagers to frat parties or fake IDs.
