If you're willing to invest the time and money necessary, eating around Atlanta is truly a joy. The Village, just a 15-minute walk from any dorm on campus, has a couple of good places, including Everybody's Pizza, a tasty Italian restaurant, and Doc Chey's, a quality chain Chinese eatery. Out around Atlanta, there are tons of great places to eat, ranging from inexpensive to gourmet. There are some of the best steakhouses in the country here, tons of great sushi places, and great ethnic eateries as well. A group called Buckhead Life owns and operates several of Atlanta's best restaurants, all situated in and around Buckhead, an area with many good but expensive restaurants about 10 minutes from Emory by car. As a freshman, these places can be hard to get to since nearly every freshman is without a car.
For less money, there are many great restaurants scattered around town in places like the Virginia Highlands (Osteria, Murphy's), Little Five Points (Vortex, Savage Pizza), and Ponce de Leon Avenue. Closer to Emory, there are the usual fast food chains, a Steak 'n Shake, the popular frozen yogurt chain Yoforia, and a pretty good Mexican restaurant called Los Loros. Atlanta has established itself as one of the best cities in the country to get a bite to eat. Getting off campus to enjoy all of the great eateries that Atlanta has to offer will not disappoint.
