5 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Girls are super pretty and somewhat nice, but everyone is really materialistic and fake so its hard to make real friends.

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Everyone at Emory dresses very well, and I have to say that I haven't seen anyone who is just flat out ugly so far. Everyone fits into one crowd or another - so no one is left out. It's a very warm and welcoming environment!

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: They are great people. But we are a prestigious institution, so there are a lot of hard workers

Emory is not a "Southern" school by any means, so do not intend to find the same crop of women as you would at, say, a University of Georgia or a Georgia Tech. The sexes get very mixed reviews on campus. Many claim to develop "Emory goggles" during their time here, meaning that students who otherwise would not be found attractive are found attractive here at Emory. This is also referred to as the Emory sliding scale. For example, a 6/10 in the real world would be considered atleast a 7.5/10 at Emory. The Emory goggles lower students' standards, leaving them with impaired vision of the opposite sex. Emory is a fairly liberal-minded University, and a majority of students tend to reflect this in their interactions with the opposite sex, particularly those involved with Greek life who are always looking for the newest hookup.

There is also a very mixed bag of people at Emory as far as looks and personality are concerned. It is up to you to find those whom you like and or find attractive. Despite the aforementioned Emory goggles, there are plenty of good looking students on campus, though some may appear to be standoffish due to the amount of attention they receive from the opposite sex. However, many students at Emory are very kind and easy to talk to. Some may just require you to make the first step in striking a friendship.

Social Scene
There is every type of person at Emory. You just have to know where to look. Even though there are those people who will go out four or five nights a week, it is likely that they study just as hard as anyone else at Emory. Otherwise, they would not survive. While Emory does not have a large state school or party school's social scene, it definitely has a legitimate social scene thanks in large part to its close proximity to Atlanta. And like anything else, it is what you make of it.
Hookups or Relationships?
Emory is like any other school in this category. There is a fair share of hookups, a fair share of people in a relationship, and a fair amount who do both.
Dress Code
Hipsters, jocks, preps-Emory has it all and many more. Emory celebrates its students' diversity, and this can be seen in the dress of the student population. But for the most part, all students are well-dressed and do not appear disheveled. Emory students take pride in the way that they look and carry themselves.
