Transportation: Not Bad at All – The transportation system at Emory is not bad at all. There are shuttle buses running to various places on campus for your convenience and they have a shuttle running late at night if you do not feel safe walking by yourself to your dorm or another building. It is provided to you as a part of your tuition. The shuttles also go to various locations in the city as part of the "Emory Experience" which is a great way to get off campus and explore the city.

Technology: The computers on campus are pretty up-to-date with regard to their operating systems and technological capabilities. The computer labs are fairly available however, they get crowded easily during finals and midterms. Printing, just as on every college campus, costs however, it is typically paid for using money pre-loaded onto your Emory Card. The network on campus is reliable however, the speed slows down when wireless capabilities from printers interfere with the campus wireless network. I would recommend bringing a laptop as it makes it easier to do your work without having to leave your room to find a computer lab or available computer. I would not recommend getting a printer unless you know that your class(es) will require you to print many papers or information. Otherwise you can share with a roommate (or get your own if you do not feel too comfortable doing so). ;)

Weather: Normal GA weather, but we're above the gnat line so it's not too buggy. Classes don't get canceled too often.

Transportation: Tiny Campus – Tiny campus, so you don't need to drive anywhere. When you go off-campus (remembering I'm at their Oxford branch) there are free shuttles to Emory Main and to Wal Mart.

Health & Safety: Pretty Safe – I'm at the Oxford branch of Emory, and it's a small town. We can walk across campus at night alone without any trouble, and the police are generally pretty helpful.

Drug Safety: Drugs Not Here – People do not really do drugs at emory just lots of drinking and some pot.

Parking: Parking and price of a parking spot is ridiculous.

Weather: Advice: Buy a pair of rainboots. Georgian weather is sunny and gorgeous about 70 percent of the time (which makes the campus even prettier!), but it rains more than I had been prepared for. Nothing too bad, no flooding or anything, but it is useful to have a pair of rainboots and an umbrella in case the weather decides to turn around.

Majors: I am beginning my Emory career at Oxford and I LOVE it! I did NOT want to go here at first because I thought it was too small but now I am so happy I did. The campus size seems way too small at first but it is really perfect. Super convenient as you can get anywhere on campus in 5 min or less and it's very easy to make friends here. I feel that I am getting an excellent education here!

Campus Quality: Lots of Options – Emory has main campus Emory but also Oxford college as well which is great :)

Health & Safety: I've heard of incidents occurring but overall I feel pretty safe here.

Scholarships: I thought the process was good - I was offered plenty coming in to Emory. I would just make sure you do your FAFSA and get your stuff done ASAP so there won't be any problems.

Drug Safety: It's Low Key but There – Emory is pretty drug-free (We are actually going smoke-free next year). Some kids do weed and such but it's not nothing too horrible.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Pretty Decent – There are plenty of options for students outside of Emory. I see apartment complexes and other places to live in around campus. Students walk from them all the time.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Greek life here is not bad at all. Ranging from a wide variety of Fraternities, almost anyone can find a fraternity they fit into.

Campus Housing: Living in the new dorms is amazing. Everything is eco-friendly and the new buildings are LEED certified. The Longstreet Means lobby features a large gas fireplace with a stone mantle. Every room on campus features a sink, heating, and air conditioning.

Campus Quality: Smart Students, and Campus Getting Better and Better – Year after Year, Emory continues to evolve into a better internationally-renowned research university. The facilities are wonderful, the campus beautiful and opportunities are quite good. You won't be sorry you came here for an education.

Off-Campus Dining: Plenty of Options – At Emory, you are in the cool intown area of Atlanta. The Decatur Square offers several dining options, as well as the Virginia Highland area. Emory Village, adjacent to the campus offers several great options ranging from pizza to coffee shops to burgers, sandwiches and Mexican and Asian noodle houses. Plenty of options!

Technology: Everywhere on Campus – Computers are very visible and located throughout campus in all the needed places.

Majors: Neuroscience All the Way! neuroscience at Emory provides the interdisciplinary education, ranging from biology, anthropology, and psychology. the resources are always available. its study abroad program is in scotland, austrailia, and france!

Transportation: Buses Everywhere – the cliff shuttle runs every ten minutes. there's always a shuttle for something and somewhere, even if it's off campus.

Health & Safety: Fairly Safe – I have never been hurt. Emory Police is always patrolling around the area, and you can even call for safe rides for transportation across campus.

1 College Junior

Academics: Diplomat Mill – The courses here are a joke. They give everyone an A, regardless of effort.

Technology: A Lot of Them, but Slow – There are some in the computer lab and library, but they are kind of slow. I mostly use my own laptop

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Student Body – Most of the girls are VERY FASHIONABLE. I mean it's a very hard school to get into so and we don't have a football team so i guess you can't expect all the guys to be hot and buff.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Emory provides for a very unique and rewarding college experience. With the prestigious and academically rigorous University paired with the entertaining and lively city of Atlanta, your experience at Emory will certainly be a memorable one. You will be forced to work hard during your time at Emory, but you will hopefully see the benefits of this shortly thereafter. Many find Emory's celebrated diversity a blessing as well as a curse, as sometimes the various minorities or student groups become extremely cliquey and exclusive, leaving some students feeling left out. But for most this feeling does not last, and they quickly find their group of friends and people who they truly care about. There is a niche and group for everyone at Emory, but sometimes it can take a while to discover where exactly it is.

While the tuition rates at Emory are some of the highest in the nation, many students look back after a few years and feel that their time at Emory was well spent, literally and figuratively. The school has tons of invaluable resources to offer from the million-dollar facilities to the world-class professors, and your experience is truly what you make of it. The city also has an unlimited amount of opportunities and resources at each student's disposal as well. Both Emory and Atlanta have everything anyone could ask for and more, and until you realize this, you will not be able to fully understand the blessing of attending Emory.
