Interested in moving to a city with big ideas? Then Boston’s for you. Filled to the city limits with colleges, Boston offers everything imaginable for entertainment. From theater to live music, from sports to art, there is plenty to keep you occupied in this city. Some say Boston’s best shopping is located on Newbury Street. Bursting with galleries, restaurants, and high-end retail stores, Newbury Street attracts many tourists and locals who are looking to spend some cash. Other fine shopping areas include Downtown Crossing, Harvard Square, and Central Square. As for culture, Boston’s theater district is a godsend, especially for students. Rush tickets are available an hour before most shows for about half the price of ticket reservations. Emerson’s own Cutler Majestic Theater presents touring operas and ballets, as well as student productions.
The Charles River divides Boston from Cambridge and Somerville, and the Promenade is a gorgeous area for biking, skating, or smooching. Boston’s location in New England allows for easy trips to the beach or the mountains, to New York City or Cape Cod, or even a bus ride to Canada. Though the large number of young people makes the city great for nightlife and social activity, no liquor sales on Sundays and early curfews for bars remind Boston residents that this isn’t New York.
