3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Some aspects about classes are great other aspects not so great-- same for social life.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Very accessible Health & Wellness center that is helpful both in terms of physical and emotional health.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Everything is perfectly accessible in terms of distance apart from and to one another.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Students, teams, and organizations seem to treasure Emerson Athletics. Although not the best, they are certainly treated with pride, dignity, and responsibility.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love many of the teachers, classes, and friends I have met so far at this college. Although I have had my differences amongst others, I know that will always happen and in the long run I'm happy I came here.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I can't wait to use the Emerson Mafia once I begin looking for a job out there, they really can help.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: For being downtown in one of the biggest cities in the country, I think Emerson handles sexual assault pretty well despite what many criticizers say.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: For the dormitories being so close to where the class buildings are, you get a good value for what you're asking for. Piano Row is one of the better places, especially if you have multiple friends you want to live with, and even though Paramount is a little far, it's only a couple blocks, and that's really not bad compared to other colleges.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: We don't have that many greek life communities at our school, but the people that I know that are a part of it are fine people, and genuinely aren't close to the stereotype associated with greek life.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: Being an athlete there are definitely some good things but it does need some improvement such as the hours for not only the gym for both athletes and non-athletes, but also where we play, in our gym, our field, etc. It's very lazy sometimes the way they handle things.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I believe this college although it has it's moments of being, a little bit crazed and obsessed with being the type of p.c. school, it knows how to handle almost all situations and it has given me several great opportunities to work at such as Harvard University, ESPN, etc.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: You get typical city anxiety about going to school not on a closed campus. The administration has lots of outlets to take care of any assault problems that I heard about during orientation. I have never heard of any incidences happening on campus involving crime or assault.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Depends on what building you're in. Piano Row is super nice and has suites with common rooms. I don't know much about Paramount of Colonial. Little Building is old and is not as nice and is not suite style like the rest of the dorms.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: It's a really fantastic school and professors are all extremely knowledgable about their subjects and passionate about teaching them. This school is very niche, everyone really knows what they want to do. Lots of ways to get involved in school organizations and student projects. There's always something going on. The location is also excellent. It's not a typical college campus but the whole city is easily accessible and it's great for anyone wanting to live in a city atmosphere.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Title IX office is great at getting involved in cases/complaints--only I wish they would be more careful about not putting so much stress or pressure on the victims. Also, the fact that someone else can file a Title IX report on behalf of a victim without their knowledge is simply not right and needs to be reexamined.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: All of my classes have been very interesting and engaging--even if the topics weren't in my wheelhouse. The professors are AMAZING! They always work very hard to meet my needs as a student and to make me feel like I am contributing a lot to the class.

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: From what I have seen on the Emerson Mafia facebook page, there seems to be tons of career opportunities available. Now, whether or not those opportunities are easily-made-realities, I wouldn't know.

5 College Freshman

Campus Housing: I lived in Piano Row this year and absolutely loved it. The dorms were usually quiet and the rooms were HUGE. I loved my suite and I love PROW.

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: I am not involved in any Greek Life, but chapters such as Kappa do awesome things for women empowerment and creating an inclusive environment at school. A lot of people are in Greek Life, but it is by no means a requirement to fully enjoy Emerson (which is great.)

3 College Freshman

Athletics: If people want to be involved in sports, they have that opportunity...but it is not even close to a regular part of student life. I would say things like sketch comedy, theatre productions and film shoots are significantly more popular activities to be involved with on campus.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: This school has been instrumental in changing my perspective of the world from my formative years and crafting it into an all-encompassing form of knowledge that will allow me to properly interact with our very diverse world in the future.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: The school has been really trying to promote mental and physical health around campus. Some efforts work better then others.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Professors are pretty good, but communication among departments is terrible. Little to no involvement with Emerson classrooms with other colleges in the area.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: For as highly rated the school is, nobody in Boston knows about the school. Also many of the graduates get jobs that is not connected to there degree.

Campus Housing: Prow and colonial are the best dorms. LB is a dump but is close to everything. Paramount is great if your a film/acting student, but is very socially isolated.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Most students are thrilled with Emerson. From the professors to the production equipment to the classes, many students feel they’re being well-prepared for the real world. At Emerson, students have more internship opportunities, well-known industry professionals as professors, and quality classes than many larger schools. Since Emerson students come with fervor to learn their trade, they end up bolstering each other in workshops and projects. Some students gripe about the long lines and difficulty dealing with the administrative aspects at Emerson, such as the financial aid office and the registrar. These experiences can obscure the positive parts of the educational experience, but most students agree that something very exciting and positive is going on at Emerson, and there are a lot of resources to take advantage of.

Emerson students are matchless in their excitement to learn, create, and get involved in activities that will better them academically and in character. Though it’s common to boo-hoo about the unpredictable weather, the dismal parking and driving situation, and early curfews in Boston, most Emerson students love their temporary home. The chances to work with award-winning faculty are one of a kind, as are the students. Emerson isn’t perfect, but it is a fantastic place for students who are willing to learn and work hard for what they care about. Your time spent at Emerson will certainly not be easily forgotten.
