3 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: They didn't want to honor my college experience (alcohol & college life, etc) coursework from another institution.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Main campus feels dangerous due to study body and lack of security. Food service was not stellar and the hours of operation are very limited, especially if you are off campus at the equine facilities most of the day. Dorms are clean and reasonable. Showers are actually very nice. Small quiet, but cute town, with little to do if you don't make your own fun. Hour away from any other cities.

3 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Be prepared to work hard as an Equine major, but have the time and resources you can practice with be extremely limited. Know what you want to learn going in - don't just jump in and expect to find a map. Get off main campus as soon as you can.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I have heard that a number of promising Equine Management students have scored highly valuable paid internships after working here. I expect that if you're talented and hard working, Ellsworth can be a huge stepping stone in your Western horsemanship career.

Student Body: Main campus felt out and out dangerous to live on during my stay there. Dorm security is awful. Packs of male atheletes would hang out in female dorm hallways and block your passage, even when doing something like returning from the shower. The dorm doors did not have peep holes either, which was problematic when they'd bang on the doors and claim to be campus security. Security phone lines were only active after 11pm - and both brawls of 20-40 individuals in the parking lot I witnessed out my window were at around 5-6pm.

Tuition & Financial Aid: It's fairly cheap, as college goes. Not much for scholarships if you're not an athlete, though.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I was in Equine Science. While things like required chore classes frequently caused me to miss meals, and some of the instructors took a 'look, you need to learn this, and you're old enough to learn it yourself without me hand holding you' view (even though you're there for their guidance), I definitely learned a lot here. If you're able to know what you want to learn and willing to make them take the time out for you, I have no doubt they will help you. One thing though, they're very Western focused. All training courses are Western. If you're looking for an English experience, you may want to look elsewhere. There is no barns nearby, strangely enough, to provide supplementary riding time.

3 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: I never really heard much about other programs. All I ever heard about was atheletics.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: The library is about the size of a high school library, and didn't contain many books on topics I was interested in. (Foreign language, French & Japanese, robotics, etc.) The staff was quite friendly.

Food service is not good, and if you're not available for the very brief hours they're open due to classes, guess you're going hungry.

Campus aesthetic is okay. It's very small, but they do keep it green with grass and trees. Buildings look alright - not stately, but not at all rundown.

Athletes are really all that matters here. I wasn't one, but I'd expect with the extreme favoritism shown towards them in everything from food service, to disciplinary, to dorm policy, their atheletic center is top funded.

5 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: I have not had to transfer credits yet, but professors are very flexible with your schedule.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: I love Ellsworth. If you need help they offer help. If you like sports Ellsworth offers many sports and clubs.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: The courses here are easy to wrap your head around. Some teachers are hard to understand, but Ellsworth offers a thing called the hub where you can get some extra help if you need it.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Ellsworth has a great overall experience with student careers prospects.

5 College Junior

Online Courses: The classes I have taken online were very easy and helpful. My professors are very willing to help when I have questions.

4 College Junior

Student Body: A lot of our student body is very friendly! I walk around campus and know almost everyone walking by me. Everyone I walk by usually says hi or asks me how my day is.

4 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: Tara Miller, our financial aid director, is very willing to help with all your needs. If you have a question about your bill, shes the one to help you. She will walk you through what you owe and any possible grants you could earn and help going to Ellsworth easier.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: Our program here is not very extensive. Some advisers are very hard to contact and get help with for the upcoming years.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: Some of my professors love to help and are there when I need them. Other than that some are hard to find through out the day and barely check their emails.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: Ellsworth Community College has everything an athlete needs to get ready for their season, great library for students to use, and many campus activities put together by students on campus.

4 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: The convenience at my school is great. Over the summer my advisor retired so I was pretty much left alone. The Dean of Enrollment Services took me under her wing and helped me to the greatest of her ability. She helped me drop and add classes as much as I needed and what not.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: It has been a great experience. I love living on campus, living with roommates, constantly meeting new people, being involved, and getting a worth while education. I can't wait to continue my education and continue to keep learning more about my major.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: Courses and professors are great at Ellsworth. They help you out to the best of their ability on a daily basis. They are constantly reminding you to visit them if you have questions or need help with anything. There are some teachers here who have a great passion to teach and love working with kids and there are some teachers here who are very strict with their teaching. It just depends on what teaching style the teacher prefers.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: The overall value is great. I have had a paid internship through a local boutique and that has really opened my eyes to what I can do with my fashion degree. The alumni network is great with many of the fashion students attending Iowa State University and creating a great network there. The career centers/services are great and many people use them, like I said earlier, I have known what I would like to study for about five years now, so I didn't need to use this great service.

3 College Senior

Online Courses: I do like online classes, but only for certain classes. I am currently taking Computer Systems and Applications 2 online because it wasn't offered this semester. My online teacher is a retired teacher and I have a hard time getting ahold of her or being able to reach her through email. I wish that this teacher was on campus somewhere so I could go to her with my questions.

3 College Senior

Student Body: We have great diversity here at Ellsworth, but the student involvement is lacking. This year I was more involved since I live on campus, but last year I was living off campus and felt very out of the loop. Everyone here is very accepting and I have made a lot of friends this year. In areas that we are diverse; we have people here from different states, countries, home lives, speak different languages and learning english when they get to ECC, and also different forms of learning.
