Students at EKU agree that there are lots of options for partying, particularly on Wednesday through Saturday. Most students stick to local spots but occasionally make the drive to Lexington. While some of the options for bars and clubs are limited in the Richmond area, students say they like the convenience. Most tend to walk to the bars or clubs, ride with a designated driver, or take a taxi cab. The cost of Richmond bars and clubs is affordable, and cover charges are waived on a lot of nights. Students find the price of a drink to be good, and many places sell drafts or cans for only a dollar. Many places have live music or contest nights to bring in more customers.
While the selections are average, students say the options in Richmond are fun. There are also house/apartment parties, as well as Greek-sponsored parties on campus. Students who do not drink or are underage also have different options for nightlife and are not discriminated against for not drinking. There are plenty of things to do sober, like the movies, bowling, dinner, or hanging out with friends. Basically, if you want to drink there are some places here to do it. However, if you don’t drink, you won’t feel shunned.
