It's great beacuase of the great friendships I have made there. However, you have to work on trying out new thing that you may have not done in high school. I love that EIU is small public school because there are times when im walking to my classes and I see familiar faces but once in awhile i'll see some new faces on campus. There are so many organization to join on campus that everyone and anyone can join. There are always one or two professors that you are excited to have for the school year but there will be a time you will be in a class with a teacher , who you looked up their rating on "rate my professor", who you are nervous about, but then they end up being your favorite teacher that semester! One thing I wish EIU campus had more of was better dining option for students on and especially off campus.

There are not many off-campus dining areas at Eastern Illinois University. There are two Mexican restaurants, a Thai restaurant, a BBQ house, and many pizza places. There are not many healthy food options, so I recommend that you go to the local Wal-Mart and purchase your own food! However, all of the restaurants are extremely affordable, and not very far from campus. Most are in walking distance from campus. One of the most popular food options for off-campus is dining is the Jimmy Johns. It is convenient, fast, and affordable. It is a popular choice amongst EIU students.

EIU is huge on embracing diversity! They have so many things available to students to get involved in, from sports to theatre to clubs that specialize in making the community more aware of diversity itself. On top of that, the school has a number of exchange students and students with different ethnic/ religious backgrounds. Overall, I think this school is a wonderful place to feel more comfortable with being yourself because of their ability to accept diversity.
