4 College Sophomore

Academic Flexibility: The schools academia is very flexible. I have two jobs and a full schedule there, it was very easy to set it all up.

4 College Sophomore

Online Courses: I have only taken one online course so I do not have much to say about them. The one I took was extremely user friendly and the times we did meet with the teacher they made the navigation instructions very clear.

Career Services: I have yet to find these resources but from what I hear they are very helpful.

Overall Experience: The campus has gotten bigger and the students are very friendly.

Overall Experience: Student career prospects vary greatly, most are there to transfer and they commute.

Academic Experience: Teachers here really do care for the struggling adults in the surrounding communities, and make sure they know about external resources as well as the campus resources to help them.

Overall Experience: After two years at this school, I feel like I have gone further here than I would have at any of the cal states that accepted me. My goal is to get into a university and this schools resources and people have helped me get on track for my goals.

Overall Experience: ELAC is the best when people do not know what to study. Students can start by taking General Education courses that they need in order to get a degree there or to transfer. There is also the good chance that students will declare a major and start pursuing that.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: The ELAC staff is mostly very friendly and are willing to help in a fast and effective way. Some people are not the happiest everyday but as long as they treat students with respect, there should not be a problem.

Academic Flexibility: It has been very easy to get all the classes that I needed. The only issue that I experienced is that even though they offer many classes, sometimes we have to base our entrance on the lottery. Some classes are not offered when I want to take them but then I plan my schedule according to those classes that are harder to get.

Online Courses: I have taken some online classes and it was a great experience for me. It was somewhat stressful because I did not have the teacher in front of me explaining what each topic was about but he always posted videos and readings that made the subject easier to understand. It was a class full of participation assignments with both the professor and colleagues.

Overall Experience: Overall, ELAC has a bad reputation because it is located very close to East LA. But in reality, ELAC is a wonderful place to study at and to prepare for transferring to a bigger school. There are many professors, days, and times for each class, making it easy for the student to be able to enroll in all the classes he/she needs. Most classes are not too big but sometimes, especially for General Education classes, the classroom can be full every day. The class is not bigger than 45 students.

Overall Experience: Although ELAC does not offer anything more than an A.A, it is really important that all students get some form of degree here because it shows that they spent time at this school before transferring or getting a job. I have never experienced anything bad with any of the staff at ELAC. Not all of them are super happy every day but they treated me with respect and willingness.

Academic Experience: To be a music major at East Los Angeles College is amazing. Since the professors are professionals with years of experience, they know what they are talking about. They are also very friendly and strict. They expect the best from each music student and they will push us beyond limits to reach the level they want us to be at before transferring to a four-year-university. It shows every time how much they care about our lives in general, not only about our careers.

Academic Experience: There are many business related classes with professors that are practitioners in their fields, which is helpful for students who want to know what it is like in the real world. There are also many clubs such as the business club, accounting club, and economics club that can help students explore their major, learn more about themselves, and engage in a support system.

Overall Experience: The people here are incredibly friendly and helpful. It is impossible to go through a day without making conversation with someone. Students and professors are very supportive and all want each other to succeed. Many professors are willing to put in a lot of time to help out students with office hours and weekend tutoring sessions. It also has many resources such as EOPS, the math lab, and the writing center. It is also easier to get classes here compared to the neighboring community colleges.
