Guys & Girls: The greek life is a little annoying, I know that is probably true with any school. Other than the greek subculture there is so much diversity it's hard to pin-point a direct description. I guess if I had to describe everyone else, it would be that they dress relaxed, they have big social lives and are interested in many things ranging from sports to music.

ECU students exist in all shapes and sizes. Guys range from boney pubescent types to muscular athletes. Some girls are rail-thin and look like they need to eat a dozen Krispy Kremes (without throwing them up afterwards), and many are also well-toned and athletic, or voluptuous vixens. Guys and girls at ECU are often both intellectual and good-looking. A glance at the parking lots reveals the variety of personality-indicating vehicles ECU students drive: big trucks with even bigger tires, mini-vans, beloved rusted-out souvenirs from two decades ago, boxy hand-me-downs, trendy SUVs, and brightly-colored boom-boxes on wheels. Some ECU students are sexually promiscuous, but there is also a significant portion of students who are protection-conscious, and some who have decided not to be sexually active until later in their lives. No matter which category new students fit into, there will be others who share their ideas. Attending class regularly cultivates friendships with people who have similar academic interests, and campus organizations can be good places to meet people who have similar goals and lifestyle choices. In general, if new students pursue their own interests, through academic and social groups, they are likely to find other students with whom to develop relationships. What really matters at ECU, no matter the sexual orientation or goal of dating, are self-confidence and awareness, manners, conversation, personality, and a genuine smile.

Social Scene
Because Greenville is in the South, ECU students are naturally sociable. It is customary to speak to, or at least smile at, people passing by on the sidewalk, even if you don't know them. Most students are aware of other students who may be passing through doors behind them and won't let the door slam in their face. Casually holding the door for someone behind you, whether you've ever seen them before or not, is common courtesy and could even get you a date.
Hookups or Relationships?
There are a lot of random hookups, especially at parties and as a result of drunken encounters at clubs. Some off-campus couples move in with each other temporarily before breaking up or getting married. There are also students who meet someone in their first semester at ECU and end up marrying them before, or soon after, graduation. There are many engagements between students, particularly between juniors and seniors.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
Going to different events on campus allows you to meet a large variety of people, such as a philanthropy event for a sorority, like a pasta dinner.
Dress Code
The dress at ECU ranges from hippie-casual to business to preppy to next-to-nothing. Anything goes here. There is no single style that students as a whole feel pressured to assume. Students mostly wear jeans and t-shirts to class.
