Athletics: I love pirate football, and going to football games. Even watching them on tv makes me happy.

Overall Experience: I love ECU, and I would most likely choose it again if I had to. I love the city and the surrounding areas. I love the people. I feel like once you become a pirate, you become part of great big family.

Overall Experience: I love ECU but I don't like being so far away from home. I wish I could pick up ECU and bring it to NJ because I can't find a school anywhere close to home that I like as much as ECU.

Overall Experience: I don't get to participate in many extracurricular events because my major is so demanding. However I do feel as though the majority of classes I have taken have been helpful and added to my knowledge. There have been a few classes in which the course material was expected to be understood immediately and therefore that hindered my learning experience. Also a few encounters with faculty have added to my learning hindrance. Overall, I love my classes and my professors and I feel blessed for all the opportunities that I have received while at school.

Health & Safety: There's been some mishaps while I've been at ECU but for the most part, I feel safe. Most girls have pepper spray on their keychains and I suggest purchasing one. We do have safety posts where you can run to and press the alert button if your in danger. i wish there were more lights.

Campus Housing: I lived in West End, in Greene, my freshman year. The walk to class was beautiful. My RA was awesome.

Greek Life: I personally don't like our greek life. Its not for me. The greeks come across and rude and snobby. They aren't accepting of you if you're not in a sorority or fraternity.

Overall Experience: I love that my school revolves around school spirit. Everyone that goes here is very prideful in our school. The atmosphere is very positive and everyone is very accepting and pretty nice.

Overall Experience: Intro level courses are in auditoriums, but they aren't overwhelming in size. The professors aren't as one-on-one in those classes, but are always willing to help you out and work with you during office hours. Once you're in your core classes for your major, the classes are smaller and more personal.

Overall Experience: I haven't use it yet, but I've heard the career center is great with helping practice for interviews and giving lists of potential jobs or internships that hire recent college grads with little to no experience in the work force.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

The quality and enthusiasm of the professors who care about their students is what attracts and retains students who could have gone to larger and more prestigious schools. Greenville is quite charming and has such good local food that most skeptics love the area, or at least ECU, by the time they graduate. Although the campus police are friendly, ECU is quite strict, perhaps in an effort to downplay the “party school” reputation. The strictness, however, contributes to student safety and helps reduce the drug presence on campus. Alcohol is a problem for some students, and the clubs are tempting, but the counseling center can help students with their problems. ECU’s computer resources are excellent, and the athletic facilities are better than the teams’ records. ECU’s most enjoyable facilities are the green areas, especially because the weather here is so pleasant—crazy, but pleasant.

Whether living on or off campus, students should join organizations to maximize their college involvement and build leadership experience for their resume. With ECU’s diverse student population, new students can easily find an organization, Greek or non-Greek, that is for them. ECU is reputed to have one of the highest concentrations of pretty girls anywhere, and the guys are good-looking overall, too. The Southern hospitality creates a welcoming social atmosphere. ECU has been through sports losses and administrative shake-ups in the past, but some of the political damage seems to be getting straightened out. So, as usual, ECU students are optimistic. They will continue to be easy-going, yet serious and balanced, fun-loving learners.
