Campus Food: Dinning halls are great for people who like to eat a lot. There are varieties however for a vegetarian it is kind of difficult to have a good meal. Not many items are vegetarian and it gets kind of boring eating the same thing over and over again.

Off-Campus Housing: There are great safe locations for students to live. They are also in a 5 to 10 mile radius of the school and are newly renovated. Prices are great and they also give great deals if you choose to sign a lease.

Transportation: Campus shuttles run everywhere. They can take you to various different location on and off campus. Very convenient if you want to go grocery shopping or need to get to class and you live off campus. Runs through most of the off campus housing and is on time half of the times. There is also safe ride in case it is too late at night and you need to get to a certain location on campus.

Parking: Finding a parking spot around campus is very difficult if you do not have a parking pass and even with a pass you still have to park a mile away.

Weather: Weather is not that bad. The only time classes are cancelled is when there is snow or a hurricane rolls through, which is not that often. I always carry an umbrella with me in my book bad just in case there is a little shower. Usually there is nice weather in eastern north carolina.

Parking: If you buy a parking pass, you will be okay for finding a parking spot. However, if you do not have a parking pass and you are parked inappropriately you will be fined and possibly towed. Costs for parking passes are reasonable compared to other universities.

Campus Housing: There are plenty of options to live at. There are plenty of dorms, student apartments, and apartments close to campus. Everyone is very sociable at all these places and the prices are reasonable.

Local Area: Greenville is a small town. There are a couple of attractions including a couple movie theatres, an ice rink, the mall, kayaking, and bike routes. The most exciting thing about East Carolina University is foot ball season where you can enjoy the spirit of pirates. There is no other atmosphere when it comes to the fans of pirate foot ball.

Campus Quality: The facilities on campus are modern and up to date. The green spaces are well kept and a place where a lit of students hangout. There is plenty to do on campus such as bowling, billiards, clubs, and going to the recreational center.

Technology: ECU provides several computer labs in dorms and academic buildings. Printing is free and there are kiosks for printing in an academic building without going in to a lab. ECU also provides internet for students who only needs to download the schools internet security program. The school is quick to send out updates on availability and down systems. WiFi is also available throughout the whole campus

Off-Campus Dining: There are plenty of restaurants that are just off campus the cater to students and sometimes made just for the students ie. Sup Dogs. But like any college, the further away from it, the less deals and convenience for the student.

Transportation: The public transportation is excellent. It's known to be the best system. The buses are driven by students and the routes are varied enough that a student needs only to transfer once or not at all. The buses also run into town to the major shopping plazas. The system also sends out email updates on bus routes, cancellations, and inclement weather situations

Local Area: Though Greenville, Nc is considered a small town, it has a popular downtown life that fits all types of evenings, family outings to club night. Also there is a wide variety of individual stores of the boutique variety and diners. We're also close to large shopping cities, Durham and Raleigh is where most go if they want to go out of town

3 College Sophomore

Weather: Being near the coast the weather is a bit unpredictable but the school does try to accommodate for inclement weather. So in cases of extreme rain and flash flooding or snow classes are handled accordingly and then cancelled. It rains sporadically sometimes but an umbrella should always be close

Off-Campus Dining: There are so many places to eat off-campus. There is Carolina Ale house, Texas roadhouse, logans, five guys, olive garden, McAlisters, Chilis and plenty more.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Quality: The student life at ECU can't be beat. There are friends everywhere, plenty of places to eat and hangout, an amazing gym, and many many activities always happening.

Technology: The computer labs are excellent in class buildings and the library. The library has a lot of very nice computers such as apple and new dell computers.

Majors: There were no issues getting into my major. I simply spoke to my advisor and told her I wanted to switch programs and she put it in her computer.

Majors: I do not enjoy my program just because it seems like everyone chooses it as a major just because. Most students in the classes arent even interested in politics, nor are the teachers

3 College Freshman

Academics: Very large group of political science majors here so it's fairly easy to find students with similar interests and clubs.

3 College Freshman

Academics: Professors are subpar. Some overqualified, some don't care either way. Most have very strong political views. It's easy to figure out which classes are easy As. Most are, popular study areas include communications, teaching studies, fashion merch, business and political science.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

The quality and enthusiasm of the professors who care about their students is what attracts and retains students who could have gone to larger and more prestigious schools. Greenville is quite charming and has such good local food that most skeptics love the area, or at least ECU, by the time they graduate. Although the campus police are friendly, ECU is quite strict, perhaps in an effort to downplay the “party school” reputation. The strictness, however, contributes to student safety and helps reduce the drug presence on campus. Alcohol is a problem for some students, and the clubs are tempting, but the counseling center can help students with their problems. ECU’s computer resources are excellent, and the athletic facilities are better than the teams’ records. ECU’s most enjoyable facilities are the green areas, especially because the weather here is so pleasant—crazy, but pleasant.

Whether living on or off campus, students should join organizations to maximize their college involvement and build leadership experience for their resume. With ECU’s diverse student population, new students can easily find an organization, Greek or non-Greek, that is for them. ECU is reputed to have one of the highest concentrations of pretty girls anywhere, and the guys are good-looking overall, too. The Southern hospitality creates a welcoming social atmosphere. ECU has been through sports losses and administrative shake-ups in the past, but some of the political damage seems to be getting straightened out. So, as usual, ECU students are optimistic. They will continue to be easy-going, yet serious and balanced, fun-loving learners.
