I feel ECU provides meant opportunities to help freshman students make a successful transition from high school to college. Once freshman year is complete, I think ECU, assists in providing students with tools necessary for continued success. Sometimes ECU is seen as a party school, however, my personal opinion is that unless you attend ECU, outsiders simply confuse our tremendous school spirit and purple pride as as a party school rather than the wonderful academic school that we represent. I am proud to be a pirate and sometimes resent being called a party school, we can boast of the medical advances that have been provide by the ECU school of medicine and the research that has been provided through our University! Arggg Go Pirates!

East Carolina is one of the best places to be during the Fall! The football games are life changing and you will make so many new friends through the sports. Everyone is so team spirited and the vibe is amazing. The campus and the professors are helpful as possible as long as they see you putting in the effort. The Greek life is what makes the school go around. It is a great way to get involved and meet ALOT of people, but it is not for everyone. It was not for me and I still have had a great year and met a lot of people throughout the year. ECU has a lot of activities and events to keep you in the mix with any of your interests. I can't wait to get back to ECU in a couple of days!

It's Iffy – I gave Housing a C because the experience can vary from very good to very bad. Roommate matching is virtually non-existent and hinges on whether you share the same plumbing and smoking preferences. A bad roommate can ruin everything, even if you love your dorm. College Hill isn't the best place for freshmen since it's farther away from classes, as are some of the West End dorms. Belk and Umstead aren't very good quality buildings. If you don't like sharing a small room with someone and sharing bathroom facilities with many others, get an off-campus apartment. Single dorm rooms aren't worth the extra cost. Rule enforcement varies with RAs and the type of dorm. Many buildings are old and the furniture kinda sucks. But hey, no utility caps!
