The academic councilors should be engaged into each individual student's career path to ensure they are taking the necessary classes to achieve their goal. I have made a lot of decisions on my own, in which I regret to this day, due to lack of parental assistance and guidance from the university council. I believe I would be at my desired education level should I had better assistance throughout the process.

Academically, it has taken awhile to reach my full potential because I held myself back from succeeding. The teachers are well-educated and staff members are okay to work with. Sometimes it feels like staff members - financial aid advisors, for example - are in a hurry to get me in and out of his/her office. It's not a bad school but I feel like there may be better options out there. I particularly feel that way because I did not get accepted with high marks. Admittedly, I was not a great high school student and though I'm grateful for the acceptance, I would choose another school if I had to do it all over again.

As with any student body at majority of Universities, there are your younger, fresh out of high school students who enroll just for the sake on being enrolled somewhere. These students take away from the school culture, but only if you allow it. There is a good mixture of your younger students who attend and your mature, working students with families attending. The student body as a whole is very diverse, though predominantly African-American.
