3 College Sophomore

Weather: Oh God, the Quakers will keep going through ANYTHING. One day, when Winter was still terrorizing everyone, Richmond sunk to 18-20º F below 0º...without windchill. Were classes canceled? No. No they were not.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: I does not snow a lot, it is never too hot or too cold. All the classrooms are within walking distance from dorms, so it is not a big deal if it snows or rains.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Its Indiana. You would be wearing mittens in a scarf in the morning then have a tank top on by the afternoon.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: The winter seems to go on forever, and by the time it gets to March and it's still cold, campus feels like a pretty depressing place.

3 Recent Alumnus

Weather: Lots of Snow – Lots of snow and cold but the fall and spring are beautiful. Earlham tries to be green in its de-icing methods which aren't always effective so paths are often slippery which is a hassle but also sweet in its adherence to campus values so it pretty much makes up for it. It's a small campus so you never have to walk very far.

Indiana weather is a bit manic-depressive. Much like your moody ex-boyfriend, the skies may be grey for over a week on end, and then suddenly bust out with a warm, sunny day. So while the campus mood may slump, especially after the winter's been dragging on and on, a beautiful day will send spirits soaring. If you can, keep a range of clothes available during all seasons. While there are definitely four seasons, some anomalies are not out of the question. You never know when you might get a gorgeous day in the middle of winter or an ice storm in April. Precipitation usually comes in liquid form and only occasionally materializes into a winter wonderland. Indiana doesn't have much in the way of ski slopes, but Earlham students get creative when the snow falls. School closings for weather are extremely rare, as practically no one has to commute from farther than College Avenue. During late August and September, you may want to make friends with someone who lives in Bundy, Warren, or Wilson, and definitely consider investing in a fan, as it can get a bit stifling in non-air-conditioned dorms.

Some days will be disgustingly hot and humid, others will be depressingly cold and dark, but you're not going to get snowed in all winter or have to put up with Northwestern rainy skies. Grey winters are a downer, but fall leaves and spring blossoms are delightful, and you'll never have to put up with one kind of weather for too long.
