Campus Food

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: Generally, after freshman year meals plans and options are great. Although it's nice that as freshman you can use your swipes and the Freeman Center instead of Marketplace. But it's horrible that you don't get that many food points to start with and you can only really eat in one place everyday. Also you have to miss two meals if you want brunch and dinner on weekends. After freshmen year you can have any meal plan size you want and there are tons of food options to select from. The only comment I really have with Duke Dinning, is that beyond Divinity there aren't that many healthy food options, and Divinity is no longer open for dinner.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: I would give it 5 stars, but MP takes it down 2 stars.

1 College Junior

Campus Food: Very, very poor and limited options. As someone who enjoys exercising and eating large meals, I cannot spend less than $15 other than at McDonalds.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: With my class schedule the options are very limited.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Food: As with most schools, the food is overpriced and mediocre.

You’ll hear plenty of complaints about the freshman meal plan, and many of them are justified. This meal plan requires freshmen to eat breakfast and dinner at the Marketplace every weekday, as well as brunch on Saturday and Sunday. On the one hand, this is very convenient; you can eat dinner with your friends every night and not have to worry about paying for overpriced fast food. On the other hand, although the food is really not nearly as bad as everyone will tell you, it really wears on you after a while. West Campus, however, abounds with places to eat and is able to satisfy pretty much every craving. And as of 2010, an all-you-can-eat meal at the Marketplace can be converted to $12 of credit at the Great Hall.

On the whole, Duke's food options are varied, convenient, and well liked, but students will complain anyway. If you can’t find something you like on campus, you can use points to order from off campus establishments or walk across the street to Whole Foods.
