Technology: Wireless has gotten better, but I mostly use my own computer.

3 College Sophomore

Technology: There are some computers available for students that are scattered all over campus. Most of the computers can be found in the library, but that's about it. Printing on campus isn't free as I expected it to be The network access on campus is also spotty and unreliable in certain classrooms

Technology: There are many computer labs in dorms, different buildings and the library. They have a lot of macs and you can borrow MacBooks at the library, so there's a lot of available resources.

The wireless network is a major benefit. A laptop with a wireless modem is a huge advantage to have on campus. There is access to the Internet anywhere on campus, and students can take notes on their computers during lectures (though some professors frown upon this practice). Many people still prefer the classical way, however, and lug notebooks to write everything down. Naturally, these students usually will not encounter a problem if they have to use a computer on campus. Students can also check their email in any of the computer labs and also in the library and the Student Life & Administrative Services office in the Main Building. If Microsoft Office or some other software is needed for an assignment, the computers in Korman are fully loaded, and it's cheap to print there. Additionally, printing is free for Pennoni Honors College students.

Be careful, though: While students usually don't have problems accessing computers, the labs do fill up during midterms and finals. The best times of day to use the labs are 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to close. These crowds are often attributed to commuters waiting in between classes. Best bet is to bring a laptop and either connect through the wireless network, or plug in to an Ethernet jack in Korman, the library, or wherever else there is one. Although the labs are accessible during most of the quarter, it would be wise to have a personal computer even if it is not a laptop.
