Scholarships: Although I wish they could have given me more, they gave me what they could, and even increased it after I appealed.

3 College Student

Majors: I have enjoyed my classes andI do believe that I am learning a lot from them.

5 College Student

Campus Housing: I enjoy living in my dorm, mainly because of my roommates and other people on my floor.

4 College Student

Off-Campus Dining: I enjoy the different food that is available to me

4 College Student

Campus Quality: I enjoy living in the dorms and the rest of the campus is also good.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: The workload is heavier than it may appear because of the 10 week schedule

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Expensive school either way you cut it. Financial aid is helpful but if something is held up it takes a lot of time to fix it. This could prevent you from registering for classes which is already cut throat as is.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: If you're a guy and not in a frat, expect to pay $5 at the door. The new alcohol policy has limited frat parties so even those are becoming scarce. It's more fun to hang out with friends and throw a private thing at this point.

Campus Housing: The dorms are old but the atmosphere is great. You meet many new people and most people remain friends or live with their floor-mates in following years. It's also extremely helpful when doing work. Since everyone is friends studying, homework and projects become easier to work on.

2 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: The off-campus housing can get a little sketchy. The closer you get to campus the more expensive it is but, it's worth the safety and convenience. Drexel offers "affiliated housing" which is essentially grown up dorms that are fashioned more like apartments.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: The Co-Op experience is wonderful. Depending on your major, it is paid and close to the city. It helps you gain real world experience and employers know when you're a Drexel student based on your know how and professionalism. Many get offered jobs after their last co-op, work part time until they graduate then return to their job. It's a really wonderful program.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: The 10 week class schedule is intense but, you get a lot out of it. If you fall behind there's a slim chance in passing but, it helps you prioritize.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: Some things such as drug use and visitation in dorms are taken pretty seriously. The college anticipates college kids drinking so if you get caught and you're incoherent you have to do some probation things.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Some students complain about the "Drexel Shaft" screwing up their scheduling or billing, or a poor professor. The truth is that students will find red tape headaches and unfortunate instructors at just about every university. As long as students are picky about the professors and classes they enroll in, they can surely guarantee a positive academic experience. The University is filled with incredible professors that are more than willing to impart their professional wisdom. The Drexel Co-op is Drexel's strongest selling point, and many students come here specifically for that program. Some can't wait to graduate and zip through their classes, concentrating more on their co-op, as they feel it gives them more valuable experience. This vocational approach of the student works against the joy of the college learning experience. Some students scoff at the idea of taking electives in other academic concentrations, which they might enjoy or which could make them a more well-rounded person.

The hurry to graduate is mostly because of the fact that co-ops usually require students to stay at Drexel for five years. Students load up on courses when they are in school, try just to pass them, and complete their programs as soon as possible. This does not need to be the case, and the students that realize this earlier on tend to be immensely happier than the aforementioned students. It's unfortunate that this facet of students at Drexel feels this rush, but most of the other students relish their college experience and the various benefits Drexel has to offer. Most students are thrilled they went to Drexel in the end. The co-op is an invaluable experience that puts students ahead in the job race after graduation (it also beats any menial college job).
