Overall Experience: The co-op program essentially assures students a job right out of college. It's great.

Campus Housing: I was lucky enough to get a suite at Van Rensselaer Hall so my experience has been much better than most. I have plenty of space and a bathroom and shower in my suite which I only share with my 3 roommates. The suites are absolutely worth the extra money and great for entertaining and having friends over.

Greek Life: There's plenty of Greek life to get involved in, however it is not essential for a social life.

Athletics: Since it is mainly a STEM school, Drexel isn't too big on sports.

Overall Experience: The facilities are great, there's plenty of shiny new buildings and a state of the art athletic center. There's also many resources for the students such as free tutoring for every subject. Most of the freshman dorms are gross but nevertheless a fun and cozy place to live. The food is awful nearly everywhere on campus though. On the bright side there is plenty to do since it is so close to the city and the school really sets you up for success with wonderful co op and civic engagement opportunities. I would probably still pick it if I had a choice to do it all over again.

Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus. Drexel provides a "guardian" service where you can call the number and someone will be sent to your location to walk you home from where you are if you're uncomfortable.

4 College Student

Overall Experience: Class sizes vary for each major and each class. As a marketing major, I have medium sized classes with no more than 50 people per class/lecture. If you are struggling you must reach out to your professor and they will work with you. The quality of the courses is great but they move extremely quickly since Drexel is a quarter system.

Overall Experience: Co-ops help all interested students in pursuing the careers they want. The career center helps students with interview preparations, resume building, and anything the students would need help with.

4 College Student

Campus Housing: I live in a suite-style freshmen dorm. The cost is insanely high and the lottery system in choosing our housing was a hassle after several attempts.

Greek Life: I am a non-Greek but have many Greek friends. Greek life is very popular at Drexel. The line of sorority and fraternity houses on Powelton Street is very popular for parties. I don't feel pressured to become a part of Greek life even though it is a big part of our school.

Athletics: As a student-athlete myself, I find myself constantly trying to become more supportive of the other sports teams by attending their games/matches. However, there is very, very little school spirit. The athletic facilities are great, but not the best.

Overall Experience: I enjoy Drexel. However, I feel like just another number to the school. There is hardly any school spirit within the school and students which effects the overall experience in a negative way for me.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Teachers are not all the best the connections I have made are amazing though. It is very expensive though

5 College Freshman

Diversity: School does not lack for racial and ethnic diversity

4 College Freshman

Academics: Really easy to register for courses, but they usually fill up quickly

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: We are right in the middle of the city of Philadelphia, there is always an urgency to stay as safe as possible, especially when walking to and from campus in the middle of the night. But all students are aware of that, and I don't think I've heard or read anything about a Drexel student being a victim.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Professors are always nice and understanding, courses are rigorous but are worth it, they challenge you

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: School is really strong on academics and work experience through co-op, so it is really important to me that I obtain a degree and graduate through drexel, and that by the time I graduate I already have a job through co-op.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Great residence halls, and apartments as well. Better value if living in an apartment outside residence halls after sophomore year

4 College Freshman

Greek Life: Great part of the community, not part of Greek life, but most of them seem cool enough.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: Varsity teams are good, but not competitive enough for you to go out every week and cheer them on. Rec center and athletic facilities are on point and look new though.

3 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Classes are great, but cost of attendance is supremely expensive

4 College Junior

Academics: There is a compassionate and genuine desire to succeed and see other students succeed.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I love the accessibility to my professors and classmates in my online courses

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: Campus safety is very prevalent, as is Philadelphia PD.

Some students complain about the "Drexel Shaft" screwing up their scheduling or billing, or a poor professor. The truth is that students will find red tape headaches and unfortunate instructors at just about every university. As long as students are picky about the professors and classes they enroll in, they can surely guarantee a positive academic experience. The University is filled with incredible professors that are more than willing to impart their professional wisdom. The Drexel Co-op is Drexel's strongest selling point, and many students come here specifically for that program. Some can't wait to graduate and zip through their classes, concentrating more on their co-op, as they feel it gives them more valuable experience. This vocational approach of the student works against the joy of the college learning experience. Some students scoff at the idea of taking electives in other academic concentrations, which they might enjoy or which could make them a more well-rounded person.

The hurry to graduate is mostly because of the fact that co-ops usually require students to stay at Drexel for five years. Students load up on courses when they are in school, try just to pass them, and complete their programs as soon as possible. This does not need to be the case, and the students that realize this earlier on tend to be immensely happier than the aforementioned students. It's unfortunate that this facet of students at Drexel feels this rush, but most of the other students relish their college experience and the various benefits Drexel has to offer. Most students are thrilled they went to Drexel in the end. The co-op is an invaluable experience that puts students ahead in the job race after graduation (it also beats any menial college job).
