Athletics: Since Drexel is in the city, there is no footfall field. The main attraction is the Drexel basketball team. However, there are other teams as well especially soccer and tennis.

Academics: Short Quarter System – Drexel is based on the ten-week quarter system. So starting from day 1 of the it is important to stay on track. Time management is key in order to be successful here. The professors differ in their sensitivity towards the students overcoming this challenge. Some expect you to be a pro at time management, whereas others may be a bit more lenient. At the end of the day, it all comes down to what you want to achieve.

Campus Quality: Urban Feel – Urban atmosphere is exciting. In heart of the city.

Overall Experience: I Love My School! There are downsides to campus, not enough dorm space, under a lot of construction, the application process can be pretty difficult, but overall it's an amazing school and amazing experience. We can deal with the very limited space of 3 people in 2-person dorms(saves some money!), the construction is slowly making the campus prettier and better, and once you're through the complicated and confusing application/financial aid process you have nothing but an amazing experience ahead of you. The co-ops are a great opportunity, and I can't wait to start experiencing them.

Academics: Co-Op Option – This was how Drexel caught my eye. I fell in love with other aspects of the school, but whenever I second guess why I chose a school half way across the country, why I chose such an expensive school, or why I chose a school in the middle of a city, the co-op option pops back into my head. Drexel is partnered with many different companies within Philadelphia and worldwide, making for an extremely diverse and different learning experience.

Scholarships: No FINAID for Me – I was very shocked when I received my award package for finaid and it stated that I was ineligible for any finaid. When I was in undergrad school I was awarded many grants and scholarships. This is why I am researching and trying to find grants and scholarships that I can win towards my tuition.

Off-Campus Housing: I am a commuter so I really don't know much about off campus housing. However, I have heard that in the city it is relatively easy to find an apartment.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: Expensive but Convenient – The residence halls are expensive but convenient when things like utilities, laundry, and proximity to campus are considered. Two of the residence halls have gyms and the RAs are the best.

4 College Junior

Academics: Drexel has a fast-paced class schedule. There are only 10 weeks in a term so it is easy to get behind. The short terms force students to learn good time management.

Weather: 4 Distinct Seasons – Philadelphia definitely has 4 seasons. Thus, you have to be ready for strong sun in the summer, cold wind in fall and winter, a few not more than that snow storms in December-February. Spring time is warm and sunny and is considered the best.

Administration: Safety Issues – Since the campus is in the city, the safety of the students is one of the main issues. In case of emergency, Drexel alerts are distributed through various channels such as cell phones, e-mails, etc. The streets have bright lightening. There are Drexel security officers everywhere, and in case you need help they are very responsive.

Academics: Great Co-Op Program & City Attractions – Drexel University offers a great variety of experiences. The campus is located a few minutes from the city center which has everything: museums, city tours, excursions, various exhibitions, private poetry readings, etc. Drexel University has a unique co-op program which oriented to help students gain professional experience and get a better idea of a corporate world while at school which leads to great networking opportunities and potential job offers.

Campus Food: Pretty Good but Not Perfect – Food in Philly and around Drexel is amazing! Food at Drexel is pretty good but not perfect. The dining hall isn't as far from class or dorms like most other schools so that's good. Sometimes they dont have as many option when they are transitioning meals or on weekends but overall pretty good with a varies of options.

Health & Safety: Drexel is located in Philadelphia so like all major cities their is crime to watch for. To prevent danger the school provides alerts through text messaging and emails. Their are also security and police officers assigned to many blocks on campus. On each block there are also safety buttons to push in case of danger or if you feel unsafe for any reason. I feel pretty safe on campus overall. Be careful walking alone at night without others to assist you.

Academics: Drexel University is a four or five year liberal arts school most known for its engineering, business, and medicine related fields of study. Most professors at this university establish a challenging curriculum for their students. Workload is heavy but most students are successful in accomplishing it. Registration for classes occurs through an online process. Students are able to study on campus, online, or abroad such as London and many oter countries. Drexel is also one of the few schools that provide the cooperative opportunity; also known as co-op which is an ultimate internship allowing students to work in their anticipated work field for one semester as a four major or 3 semesters as a five year major. This allows graduates from this university to again related work experience before they graduate and enter a profession. I really enjoy Drexel overall they have a great nursing school and the co-op opportunity is very beneficial.

Technology: For a school that is supposed to be a major technology school, Drexel is somewhat lacking. The wireless access is hit-or-miss, particularly when it comes to using personal laptops. I cannot even count the number of times that I have been forced to use the guest network because DragonFly 3 would not log me on.

Many of the professors still make use of overhead projectors, and there tend to be glitches in many of the projection and sound systems.

It is entirely necessary to have a personal computer at Drexel, as the accessibility of the computer labs is unreliable, particularly during mid terms and finals, which is practically every week.

Academics: International Area Studies – Overall, the major is an excellent one. As a person who originally wanted to pursue a French major, the program is fantastic, as it is very language-based and allows you to obtain a minor in a foreign language with relative ease. The upper-level language courses tend to be hit-or-miss with regard to professors, but Drexel does have a wide array of study abroad programs available.

The workload is definitely heavy if you take the maximum number of credit hours, but it's definitely do-able and entirely worth the time and effort.

I am extremely happy with how easy it is to customize the major, since you can choose from one of four concentrations. Because I chose to concentrate on International Business and Economics, I have taken a number of classes in the LeBow College of Business.

There a ton of fantastic professors in the department, who are ready and willing to challenge you, although there are certainly those who rely entirely on their TAs and don't answer your emails, just like at any school. The advisor for IAS is AMAZING. She keeps you updated and is an excellent resource for everything IAS-related.

The co-op opportunities are very diverse, in that you can do practically anything, so long as it is somehow related to international relations. I am currently on co-op in the Pharmaceutical Operations International department at a major pharmaceutical company in the Philadelphia suburbs.

Overall, I am extremely happy with the major.

Campus Quality: there is much school spirit here, and many students have pride in the school.

5 College Senior

Overall Experience: Diverse and Rich – there is a diverse culture, and philadelphia is wonderful for all that it has to offer historically.

Academics: Helpful and Stringent – the professors here help me to do much, and expect much from me.

Greek Life: There is a plethora of sororities and fraternities at Drexel, and most are average and full of very nice people. Unfortunately, some of the frats are downright disgusting, and are full of some of the most chauvinistic males I have ever encountered. If you are a female, and are desperate to get your ass slapped by some sloppy, over-eager lax bro who just wants to grind and feel you up, definitely go to Apple Pi or the crew fraternity! The other frats are perfectly find, however these two really make me want to throw up and slap everyone.

Campus Housing: When I visited Drexel, I was not surprised to see the size of the dorms. I attended military school, and the rooms are about the same size as those. Not huge by any stretch of the imagination, but livable.

1 College Sophomore

Parking: Tuition is expensive enough, we should get free or 50% off parking.

2 College Junior

Weather: It's Philadelphia so think common sense when its summer it is hot. In the winter it will snow. Since its a city you mostly walk ever where so it will be very rare if we get a snow day.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Because of the school is located in the city there are so many off campus dining options to choice from. If you are not careful it can get expensive. Sometimes the college off campus online food site can have hidden fees, making easy to charge student extra. In all you have to be city smart and do your homework before you dine out.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Some students complain about the "Drexel Shaft" screwing up their scheduling or billing, or a poor professor. The truth is that students will find red tape headaches and unfortunate instructors at just about every university. As long as students are picky about the professors and classes they enroll in, they can surely guarantee a positive academic experience. The University is filled with incredible professors that are more than willing to impart their professional wisdom. The Drexel Co-op is Drexel's strongest selling point, and many students come here specifically for that program. Some can't wait to graduate and zip through their classes, concentrating more on their co-op, as they feel it gives them more valuable experience. This vocational approach of the student works against the joy of the college learning experience. Some students scoff at the idea of taking electives in other academic concentrations, which they might enjoy or which could make them a more well-rounded person.

The hurry to graduate is mostly because of the fact that co-ops usually require students to stay at Drexel for five years. Students load up on courses when they are in school, try just to pass them, and complete their programs as soon as possible. This does not need to be the case, and the students that realize this earlier on tend to be immensely happier than the aforementioned students. It's unfortunate that this facet of students at Drexel feels this rush, but most of the other students relish their college experience and the various benefits Drexel has to offer. Most students are thrilled they went to Drexel in the end. The co-op is an invaluable experience that puts students ahead in the job race after graduation (it also beats any menial college job).
