Athletics: Average/Below Average – Definitely not the kind of environment that a school with a big football/basketball team provides but each sport has it niche of supporters and attending games can be fun. The school tries to rally the students every once in awhile but it doesn't work to well.

Off-Campus Dining: Pretty Dismal – In the immediate area around the campus the food is pretty boring. Basically just a couple of pizza places and convenience stores. But if you stray away from campus you can find some really good hidden gems.

Majors: Choose Wisely – Since classes are very fast paced, it is important to make sure you pick the major right for you and not change in the middle of a term like I had to do. It got me moved to different classes right before exams and it was a big mess thanks to the confusion caused by lack of communication from my advisor. Make sure you understand everything about your major or program right away to understand what is expected of you.

2 College Freshman

Weather: Be Prepared! Since dorms are distant from classrooms, rain gear is a must and in the winter snow gear is needed. It is a relatively long walk to both classes and the dining center so if you leave your dorm unprepared for the weather, you will pay.

Health & Safety: Somewhat Safe in Philly – The safety of students and faculty on campus is of utmost importance at Drexel University. There are several help locations throughout campus where Public Safety will immediately come to help anyone who needs an escort or help of any kind. However, being in the city of Philadelphia, crime is obviously very prevalent. Text messages and emails are sent out to everyone on campus with warnings of crime and the area in which it occurred. They do what they can, but they can only do so much in a city-- hence, the C grade.

Parking: Drexel is a city, so public transportation rules. There are always open spots in the street and in the garage, but you will have to pay.

4 College Student

Administration: Not Bad – Drexel expects you to keep up with their academic standards. They don't really care about alcohol but if you get caught with drugs, you get kicked out.

4 College Student

Health & Safety: Bad Rep – Drexel has a really bad rep, just because we are in the city. Drexel is very safe and public safety is everywhere. We even have our own police force as well as university city and philly cops. There are blue lights every where and public safety will even escort you home. Off campus is still safe cause public safety still patrols that area

4 College Student

Drug Safety: Cops Don't Really Care – Drexel has there own police force so the students don't have to deal with actual philly cops. Most of the parties get busted around 1 but the cops just tell everyone to go home. It's not that hard to get into parties, as long as guys are willing to pay. A lot of kids don't party, so there is no real peer pressure to do stuff that you don't want to do. There are plenty of places to smoke around campus too. Don't get caught with weed, are you will be suspended for a year.

Guys & Girls: I've noticed at Drexel that whenever you are in a group of friends, there are always more guys than girls. Even though the university is almost half and half, many of the girls don't go out to parties. On the plus side, a lot of the guys are weird, so its not too hard to get a girls attention at a party as long as you are normal. The girls aren't bad. There are a lot of asians but thats not a bad thing

Technology: The whole campus in wireless and it never really goes down. When plugged in, the internet is the fastest I have ever seen. There are always open computers in the library and around campus. The university does not care whether you use a mac or pc and provides tons of free software for both. They do offer printing and copying, but you will have to pay.

Weather: Philadelphia usually have moderate to normal weather however when there are serious weather reports Drexel does not close as easily as other schools. They are very strict on canceling classes

Academics: The Academics at Drexel is amazing and it is one of the top attributes of Drexel. Drexel offer many programs and tools to assist you academically. They have study groups online and in person and they offer offices hours after class to catch up or review personally with your professor. Tr curriculum is diverse and broad within the same major so the workload will not be repetitious. The Facilities are comfortable and fairly new. The internships are the core mission of Drexel with it renowned and successful CO-Op program.

2 College Senior

Technology: The computer labs at Drexel University are minimal. There really are no designated labs just the library and the Korman center which consist of 15 computer for over 15,000 student. However Drexel library and other building allows you to rent laptops. So bringing your own laptop is a necessity on the plus side Drexel does offer free and discounted software.

Weather: No matter how much it snows, Drexel U. does not give any breaks. If it rains and you forget the umbrella; it is extremely hard to get to the classes.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: The process is not that good and there are not many options other than online scholarship which are not much affiliated with the University.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: Dorms are not that great and housing process is not that good either. But, the transportation is available and they are less costly compared to other cities.

3 College Senior

Party Scene: The nightlife is pretty good; the students can go there and socialize and network with other students and there are a good number of places to go.

3 College Student

Campus Housing: Overall, OK – Millennium housing for the honors students is brand new and very nice. Drexel had to create an overflow housing plan so one of the dorms was converted from double to triple. All of the dorms are about average, except Millennium.

4 College Student

Health & Safety: Stay on Campus and You're Safe – As long as you stay on the campus, you are safe. The campus security is top notch and very responsive. However, if you stray too far from campus or are alone at night, it is not safe.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: The smoking scene at my school is very big and also so it the hard drug scene I think that people like to not think about the hard drug scene and people should try to be stricter about it. Alcohol is average. Policy enforcement is average.

3 College Freshman

Technology: When you are a freshmen it is advertised to you that the wireless is the fastest around and this is not true at all. When you are in your dorms trying to do homework it is so slow and goes out a lot. Sometimes it tells you you dont have access to networks that you really do.

Health & Safety: Being that we are in the city and share our campus with everyone else it would be great to see campus safety take their job more seriously. when they are out on the streets at night they are mostly in their own world. It would be better to see them ingage with students more and the other non students. I have seen many times bums beg for money from students right infront of public safety and public safety did not do anything. I would have been great for them to simple say sir please leave them alone. All of the "safety boxes" around campus are great I know that they would be there if i ever needed them and they always seam to look like there working.

Guys & Girls: Variety Variety – You will find many different guys and gals on and around campus. Drexel is in center city and some campuses are located in the west end of the city and there are several univiersities and teaching hospital in the vicinity. You will find whatever your in the mood for around here!

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Best Restaurants – There are many options around the main campus and many will provide student discounts. The menus have variety of foods and prices to fit student budgets depending on your location. My favorite is Ruby Tuesday's. They are very reasonable and its a great spot for students to hang out.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Some students complain about the "Drexel Shaft" screwing up their scheduling or billing, or a poor professor. The truth is that students will find red tape headaches and unfortunate instructors at just about every university. As long as students are picky about the professors and classes they enroll in, they can surely guarantee a positive academic experience. The University is filled with incredible professors that are more than willing to impart their professional wisdom. The Drexel Co-op is Drexel's strongest selling point, and many students come here specifically for that program. Some can't wait to graduate and zip through their classes, concentrating more on their co-op, as they feel it gives them more valuable experience. This vocational approach of the student works against the joy of the college learning experience. Some students scoff at the idea of taking electives in other academic concentrations, which they might enjoy or which could make them a more well-rounded person.

The hurry to graduate is mostly because of the fact that co-ops usually require students to stay at Drexel for five years. Students load up on courses when they are in school, try just to pass them, and complete their programs as soon as possible. This does not need to be the case, and the students that realize this earlier on tend to be immensely happier than the aforementioned students. It's unfortunate that this facet of students at Drexel feels this rush, but most of the other students relish their college experience and the various benefits Drexel has to offer. Most students are thrilled they went to Drexel in the end. The co-op is an invaluable experience that puts students ahead in the job race after graduation (it also beats any menial college job).
