Off-Campus Dining: Best Restaurants – There are many options around the main campus and many will provide student discounts. The menus have variety of foods and prices to fit student budgets depending on your location. My favorite is Ruby Tuesday's. They are very reasonable and its a great spot for students to hang out.

Majors: I enjoy learning in this program. Learning with people you enjoy being with makes the program great however you soon become sad when your closest friends in the program fail out because we are held to such a high standard. The exams are pretty hard. We dont get much credit for clinical and the courses are set up so you only have 3 grades. You can have an A at midterm and still end up failing the class because 60% of your grade can be decided in one day.

Campus Housing: Great Socialization – It's a great social atmosphere. People are open and welcoming. I feel like I can walk up to a group of people and begin a conversation. People tend to look out for each other and bond early because you need a friend with the rigorous nature of the courses.

Campus Quality: High Quality – The campus is clean and secured. I feel comfortable studying in vacant classrooms. The cafeteria is well maintained and I enjoy eating there with my friends. They offer a fitness center for every campus.

Transportation: In the middle of the city, there is easy access to different types of transportation. Drexel is a block away for 30th street station, which leads to the Market Frankfort El, Amtrak, and the Septa regional lines.

Campus Quality: It's Getting Better – The facilities at Drexel vary. There are some old and outdated buildings like Mcalister and Meyers Dorm. However, there are great buildings like the historic main building and the newer buildings, Millenium, Bossone, Recreational Center, and PISB. Bossone and the Papadakis Integrated Science Building are state of the art research facilities. The labs are new, large, and clean. They're great if you want to get involved in research. Recreational center has variety of physical activities. They have squash courts, basketball courts, a pool, and a rock climbing wall. With a number of new building projects recently announced, Drexel will constantly be changing for the better.

Campus Quality: Though some of Drexel's buildings are old, there are many developments being made to the campus. A new science center recently opened with a living biowall and state of the art equipment. Drexel's athletic center, which is free for all full-time students, is big and beautifu, with three stories of exercise equipment, a climbing wall, pools, various athletic classes, and other benefits.

Health & Safety: Drexel is right in the middle of Philadelphia, so crime is not uncommon. However, Drexel has a very thorough public safety department with round-the-clock escort services and emergency text and e-mail alerts. Emergency phones are also located around campus. However, it is best not to go out alone at night, especially if there's no one around.

Local Area: City Life in Philly – Philly is a thriving cultural hotspot, and a very colorful city full of history, museums, attractions, restaurants, etc. There's something for everyone, and Drexel is right in the middle of it. However, as with most big cities, safety is a concern. Crimes are not uncommon around Drexel, so party animals should be careful.

3 College Senior

Administration: Punishments Vary – Drinking and smoking are not taken harshly on campus and there are not severe punishments. However, if students are found to be involved in using illicit drugs or being involved in a crime, then punishments are severe - even dismissal.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Apartments Expensive – If students would like to rent an apartment nearby, they'd have to look much earlier to apply for it. Otherwise, it will become hectic in terms of distance and you may be compelled to live farther and in messy neighborhoods.

3 College Senior

Health & Safety: Safety Okay – There has been several crimes on the campus such as robberies, thefts, robbery attempts. However, the response by the Drexel University's Police has been efficient and heavy security measures have been taken. The security measures taken by the University's Police and local police are patrolling through streets on bikes, in cars, and in civilian clothes. Also, if a student fears they are being targeted they can make a special request to the security team by calling a three-digit number to escort them until the students reach their destination.

Overall Experience: Drexel, like most things in life, is what you make of it. My freshmen year was fantastic. I met as many people as possible and had an extremely fun year. As I finished my second year, the monotony set in, and it's easy to feel stuck in University City. However, I think Drexel's academic programs make the school worthwhile. All students get invaluable real life experience and we learn relevant information that is applicable in the real world. Campus life doesn't mimic your typical party school, and we don't live in a complete campus bubble away from the real world. Drexel does a great job of transitioning students into their futures.

Athletics: Division One (Kinda Sorta) – Drexel is a D1 school, which should mean excellent athletics, but that seems to be far from the truth. We have a few good teams, like women's basketball or swimming, but overall athletics don't play a huge roll in the life of the average student. We have a group of kids dedicated to watching basketball games, but it's almost like a cry for us to want a football team to cheer on to improve school spirit. We are clearly an engineering college at heart.

Technology: Overall Sufficient Computer Labs – As a student in the design college, most of our computers are Macs. There are multiple computer labs throughout the campus, even out of the design buildings that still allow students to use Mac computers. Printing is rather difficult and expensive to do on campus. The network is pretty standard and wireless access gets backed up easily due to the large numbers of students simultaneously using the network. It is necessary to have your own computer to do work at home, but the computer labs are a huge asset and overall I am satisfied with the technology provided.

Local Area: Vibrant City – The campus is in a wonderful section in the city of Philadelphia. It is a very diverse area with many options of what to do.

3 College Junior

Administration: Drexel students know how to party, but don't go as crazy as a lot of places.

The university isn't too strict, except with marijuana.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Good Deal, Not Safe – The housing around Drexel is easy to find, and not too expensive. Most of them are nice, but once you enter certain areas the neighborhoods are no longer safe, especially in the dark.

3 College Junior

Campus Quality: Drexel University has one library for a 16,000 person population, and one dining hall for the same. That dining hall doesn't even have a bathroom. The health center is a small corner, and during the winter the small waiting room is a disease vat. The counseling center has decent staff, but too few and in unknown by most of the population. Hours for almost all facilities are inconvenient to a class and especially to a co-op schedule.

The only redeemable facility is the gym, which is new and good. However, with it being open to the entire Philly public at a low cost and the student population rising, this may soon change as well.

As far as aesthetics, Drexel is a mistmatch of ugly building with no central theme. The four trees on campus do little to make the area less ugly.

There are lots of student organizations that provide lots of opportunities for students.

Drug Safety: It Is Philadelphia – If you can name it, you can find it. But its not an epidemic or anything. Most people stick to drinking

2 College Junior

Guys & Girls: The drexel curve is a joke amongst the students that there is only one girl to every five guys. While the actual population numbers might be different than this, it seems to ring true for most classes, parties, and any candid campus photo

Academics: Research Is a Must – Before taking any classes at Drexel, a smart student searches the web for reviews of professors that teach the class they are looking to take because there is so much diversity in the way classes are taught, graded, and the workload given.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: On the Unique Side of Academia – I am a Dance major with a concentration of Dance/Movement Therapy. The program at Drexel offers a different college experience which includes hands on studio classes, academic classes which range from small to lecture sized, and the wonderful opportunity to be apart of the co-op system which gives us 6 months of an internship actually working in our field. Overall the academia at Drexel University is a unique and very rich experience.

Local Area: Safe, Cultural, Fun, Philadelphia. Drexel is located in the heart of Philadelphia's University City which has so much to offer any college student and their parents. There is always so much to do on any given day or night. Next door to Drexel is the beautiful campus of University of Pennsylvania. What I like about University City is that there is so many public safety officers around not only from Drexel but also from the surrounding schools, all are very nice and willing to help protect the students no matter which school they belong to so it makes me feel safer but because we are located in the cultural city that is Philadelphia there is a million things to do whether it be shopping or going to one of the many museums located throughout the city and of course there are more than enough means of transportation to get you there.

4 College Freshman

Local Area: Endless Possibilities – Drexel University is located in Philadelphia, a city filled various activities. Being a historical city, Philadelphia is filled with numerous museums about the country's independence. It also has a wide range of cultural spectacles, from art museums to concerts in several parks. With a simple and easy to use transportation system, students can go many malls and even many cities.

Some students complain about the "Drexel Shaft" screwing up their scheduling or billing, or a poor professor. The truth is that students will find red tape headaches and unfortunate instructors at just about every university. As long as students are picky about the professors and classes they enroll in, they can surely guarantee a positive academic experience. The University is filled with incredible professors that are more than willing to impart their professional wisdom. The Drexel Co-op is Drexel's strongest selling point, and many students come here specifically for that program. Some can't wait to graduate and zip through their classes, concentrating more on their co-op, as they feel it gives them more valuable experience. This vocational approach of the student works against the joy of the college learning experience. Some students scoff at the idea of taking electives in other academic concentrations, which they might enjoy or which could make them a more well-rounded person.

The hurry to graduate is mostly because of the fact that co-ops usually require students to stay at Drexel for five years. Students load up on courses when they are in school, try just to pass them, and complete their programs as soon as possible. This does not need to be the case, and the students that realize this earlier on tend to be immensely happier than the aforementioned students. It's unfortunate that this facet of students at Drexel feels this rush, but most of the other students relish their college experience and the various benefits Drexel has to offer. Most students are thrilled they went to Drexel in the end. The co-op is an invaluable experience that puts students ahead in the job race after graduation (it also beats any menial college job).
