Athletics: Sports are a big thing at Drexel. This school has state of the art facilities.

Campus Housing: The dorms are generally clean and there is security in all the lobbys. Three are more options for upperclassmen ( suites, apartments, off-campus housing) so after your freshmen year you have a lot more choices.

Academics: Drexel has a phenomenal Engineering program. Starting with your first year classes, the program has you immersed in engineering. All your courses end up being math or science related with the exception of a university class, english class, and other classes if you are minoring in something else. This is great for students who are not sure of their field; they are able to experience and get an insight of what engineers do right when they get to class.

Academics: I am in the College of Engineering. I am not sure what it is like at other universities, but I heard that Drexel has the best engineering program. If this is the case, I can certainly see it. The classes you take as a freshman are almost all engineering related.

Drug Safety: It really depends on who you hang out with and if you like going to parties. I haven't been to any parties and I still have yet to have someone approach me with drugs.

Transportation: Located directly in the city of Philadelphia, there are many options. Drexel is a block away from the train station that is connected to national lines, as well as regional lines. There are cabs all over the streets, the subway is very cheap and accessible, and Drexel has free shuttles to other campuses around the city.

Diversity: There are many forms of diversity at Drexel, in race, gender, background, etc. The school does a good job balancing that and there are many clubs for each diverse group.

Off-Campus Housing: I can't judge about about housing because I don't live on campus. But for parking it is always crowded and you would be better off taking public transportation. Also Drexel has shuttle buses that you can ride into center city as long as you have your i.d.. As for safety it is pretty safe around the school but you should always walk in a group on around a lot of people because there are always robberies in the area.

Academics: Drexel gives you a ton a work. But I am use to working hard and at a fast pace so that us not a problem for me. The professors I had so far were great except one. The registration process was quick and easy but the only thing is you are in a group and you are chosen to register for classes at a certain time for instance the honors college and other are able to register for classes before you and the class sizes are small so when your time slot opens you may not get the classes you wanted to register for because the class is already full. I really don't know any popular study areas as of now because this is my first semester at this school.

Drug Safety: The drug scene at Drexel is somewhat existent, but the campus has a pretty good hold on it and a strict no tolerance policy. Anyone caught using or distributing drugs is expelled, no questions asked. We do not often have drug problems.

Majors: I'm an English Major at Drexel University, and I could not have made a better decision. The program is fantastic, and flexible depending on what you want to do after college. They also offer a certificate in writing and publishing that can boost your resume.

Off-Campus Dining: I've only been to one off-Campus restaurant around Drexel's Main Campus. Landmark is a very "hip" place that college kids, such as myself, flock to. They have unique sandwiches and burgers to try and I love their sweet potato fries! It has good service and great food. I've heard from friends about a couple of other great places around campus.

Transportation: Public transportation around Drexel is very useful. I'm a commuter so I take the train to the school everyday. The train station is within walking distance of the school. There are public Septa buses that run all the time around campus and the El, which is the Market-Frankfurt line, is right on campus. There is also a bus that takes the students, faculty, and staff to the tree different campuses between University City Campus and Center City Campus. Its very useful because all that is required to use the bus is a Drexel ID Dragon card.

Off-Campus Housing: There are many off campus apartments, studios, and town-houses that are great for off campus housing, however, the further away from campus the shadier the environment becomes (starting from about 6 blocks away).

Greek Life: Once you are involved in fraternity life, your college experience becomes that much greater. After connecting with people in your fraternity, it becomes simple to gain access to more academic resources, enjoyable social life, and even job/career references. Being in a fraternity does not, however, put you in a rank above or below anyone else. No one will look at you differently on campus.

Campus Food: I think the variety seems like a lot at first but eventually the food gets a little boring after 5 weeks or so. The food trucks around the place are pretty awesome though. Sometimes you need something salty and greasy.

Campus Quality: The Co-op program at Drexel is the best. Since I want to become a doctor, I get to have 1.5 years of experience before I even get to medical school. This will also help in my applications to medical school also.

Athletics: I don't think that very many people attend games. However, Squash is a popular sport to watch which is pretty unique for me because usually schools are hyped about football and basketball. On the downside, our school does not provide football as a varsity sport.

Weather: Honestly the weather is great... in the summer. However, in the winter it gets extremely frigid and no one likes to walk anywhere in the cold. So, it is good to pack some food in the dorms for the cold season. I know I got pneumonia for not wearing a thick enough jacket. Just bundle up!

Campus Quality: I think that a few plants or trees could be added for aesthetic detail. There really could be more attention put into beautification of the campus since at least for me, the environment I study in does impact how well I do.

Academics: I am majoring in Psychology. I am their online program for this particular major. It is an excellent program. I was hesistant on taking an online program, however, the professors are just as involved online as in their classrooms. Workload appears the same as compared to being on campus.

Scholarships: I received an okay amount of financial aid at Drexel University. However, I do not believe I received enough for winter semseter. Last semseter, I received enough aid for three classes and this semseter I am unable to take three courses due to charges I am responsible of paying in which I do not have the funding for. Issue has not been resolved.

Overall Experience: I'm happy I'm at Drexel.

Weather: Meh, it got cold starting in November and stayed at like 30-40 constantly. It rains little and doesn't really snow though. I'm scared for the real winter to start, haha

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Some students complain about the "Drexel Shaft" screwing up their scheduling or billing, or a poor professor. The truth is that students will find red tape headaches and unfortunate instructors at just about every university. As long as students are picky about the professors and classes they enroll in, they can surely guarantee a positive academic experience. The University is filled with incredible professors that are more than willing to impart their professional wisdom. The Drexel Co-op is Drexel's strongest selling point, and many students come here specifically for that program. Some can't wait to graduate and zip through their classes, concentrating more on their co-op, as they feel it gives them more valuable experience. This vocational approach of the student works against the joy of the college learning experience. Some students scoff at the idea of taking electives in other academic concentrations, which they might enjoy or which could make them a more well-rounded person.

The hurry to graduate is mostly because of the fact that co-ops usually require students to stay at Drexel for five years. Students load up on courses when they are in school, try just to pass them, and complete their programs as soon as possible. This does not need to be the case, and the students that realize this earlier on tend to be immensely happier than the aforementioned students. It's unfortunate that this facet of students at Drexel feels this rush, but most of the other students relish their college experience and the various benefits Drexel has to offer. Most students are thrilled they went to Drexel in the end. The co-op is an invaluable experience that puts students ahead in the job race after graduation (it also beats any menial college job).
