2 College Freshman

Party Scene: Compared to State schools it's an F. Overall fun tolerable, enough to have a good time but not go over board.

4 College Freshman

Majors: It's no Ivy but it is a very good school. Prepares you very well in your field. One step down from an Ivy

Academics: Being a biology major at Drexel is wonderful; the program has many accreditted professors and we are the first campus in the nation to have a biowall which we are very proud of. The instructors know what they teach, and most of them are enthusiastic about what they're teaching. The bio professors all have office hours which allows you to ask them any question regarding the material they're teaching.

Weather: Classes rarely get cancelled due to bad weather, however the weather isn't so bad in Philly!

5 Recent Alumnus

Technology: Drexel is one of the best campuses nationwide in terms of computers. We have a macbook dispensing machine located in the cafe near the library, that allows students to use the macbooks for a few hours just by swiping their student ID cards on the machine and using the laptop it dispenses!

Academics: Drexel has many wonderful professors, there are ofcourse those that are not liked by the students but I think these exist in every school. We also have an abundance of classes to choose from

3 Recent Alumnus

Athletics: Our athletics are mediocre...some of our teams are good while others need a lot of improvement. The plus side is that there a lot of intramural sports and many ways to get involved

3 College Senior

Majors: There was not much difficulty enrolling. Drexel admits students as much as they can. Honestly although they say a good SAT score is needed , friends of mine who had poor score was able to get it. Just fill out the application online and you are more or less good to go.

Academics: Communication- Some classes have too many workloads but some professors are understanding and often gives an extension when asked. There is not much field work unless we get a co-op related to our field of study.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: Its hard to get financial aid if you are withing the State. The school offers lots of scholarships to athletes and out of State students. Its better to research on your own when applying for aid.

Campus Quality: No more green. Constructing building on every space available and it takes away the scenery. Not much campus events are happening. But the student center and libraries are always available and a good place to study during exams.

3 College Senior

Campus Quality: Public transportation facility is readily available. The university Co-op is a good thing

4 College Senior

Campus Food: Its okay, everything is over priced. You can get the same item at half the price from the stores around.

4 College Freshman

Campus Food: The dining halls are clean and conveniently available in the campus to grab a quick bite in between classes. Each dining hall provides a different selection of food that you can buy using your dragon card. I suggest using the blue plan with more dining dollars to use in non dining halls.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: The process itself was a little long but simple. All that was needed was financial information from your parents and yourself. After you apply, you should visit the college to confirm.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The free Drexel buses are good, and you can use Septa to take you any were in or around the city. If you don't want to walk

3 College Sophomore

Majors: It was relatively easy getting in to school, I had an average SAT but a high GPA and tons of volunteer work under my belt.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: They're pretty lenient. Just don't get caught doing the same thing twice.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Drexel has an decent co-op program that will land with a full time job as you take a six month break to gain the experience from your work.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: Other than my Calc1 teacher everyone was pretty pretty fair and easy to understand. However, my first English teacher was amazing!

4 Recent Alumnus

Off-Campus Housing: I did not live on campus but when I have visited friends, the parking was the biggest issue. Parking is not included and you must pay $100+ a month to park your car.

4 Recent Alumnus

Administration: Drexel's campus is very strict on underage drinking and drug use. This is a very important aspect to a college campus in order to keep everyone safe.

3 Recent Alumnus

Technology: There are computers in the libraries on both the main and center city campuses but most times, they are taken. It is important to have your own computer.

5 Recent Alumnus

Majors: 6-month COOP is a paid internship with a company/hospital that you must apply to. During this time, some institutions require a CO-OP project be completed. Many times, these companies may keep a person employed after graduation.

3 College Junior

Campus Food: There is only one dining hall on Drexel's campus. It's currently being renovated.. and there is talk of a new one arriving at some point but it is not yet in the making. There is a bit of variety at the dining hall but the variety really doesn't change. Meaning, there are about five categories you could choose from and those categories don't change. After a while the dining hall can lose its' sparkle so there are other options on campus like cafe's and fast food places that are pretty good like Chick-fil-A and Currito (like Chipotle).

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Some students complain about the "Drexel Shaft" screwing up their scheduling or billing, or a poor professor. The truth is that students will find red tape headaches and unfortunate instructors at just about every university. As long as students are picky about the professors and classes they enroll in, they can surely guarantee a positive academic experience. The University is filled with incredible professors that are more than willing to impart their professional wisdom. The Drexel Co-op is Drexel's strongest selling point, and many students come here specifically for that program. Some can't wait to graduate and zip through their classes, concentrating more on their co-op, as they feel it gives them more valuable experience. This vocational approach of the student works against the joy of the college learning experience. Some students scoff at the idea of taking electives in other academic concentrations, which they might enjoy or which could make them a more well-rounded person.

The hurry to graduate is mostly because of the fact that co-ops usually require students to stay at Drexel for five years. Students load up on courses when they are in school, try just to pass them, and complete their programs as soon as possible. This does not need to be the case, and the students that realize this earlier on tend to be immensely happier than the aforementioned students. It's unfortunate that this facet of students at Drexel feels this rush, but most of the other students relish their college experience and the various benefits Drexel has to offer. Most students are thrilled they went to Drexel in the end. The co-op is an invaluable experience that puts students ahead in the job race after graduation (it also beats any menial college job).
