Drug Safety: I don't really see it around, but it is definitely here.

5 College Junior

Transportation: Drexel University Shuttle buses travel to all of the campuses. In addition septa literally takes you everywhere. You shouldn't have a problem at all traveling. Also if you're ever lost Drexel Police will more than happily direct you to the right direction.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: You do not see any drugs on the campus. The school has a zero tolerance policy for drugs.

Parking: Parking on the campus is not good. You will be better off catching public transportation of relying on the Drexel's Bus that they provide to students.

5 College Junior

Majors: I think that Drexel is a wonderful University and all the majors are top notch.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: I received a half tuition scholarship for my grades in community college.

Academics: Many professors are knowledgeable and genuinely interested in helping students. But there are also plenty who have no passion for teaching.

Transportation: Drexel once again is in the middle of the city. It's actually located quit close to 30th street station. In walking distance of trains, subways and taxis. Basically everything you need to get around.

3 College Senior

Drug Safety: Drexel is in the middle of the city, anybody can wonder on campus. Because it's in such a urban area drug and always a problem and rather easy to find. I think for the most part though the students are smart enough to make the right choices.

3 College Senior

Scholarships: Drexel is very good with giving out grants and scholarships

3 College Senior

Campus Quality: Co-op program. When I graduate next year, I will have 1.5 years of professional experience which many do not have my age after graduating

Party Scene: Always house parties and frat parties on campus. And of course bars everywhere since you are in the city.

Campus Quality: Drexel's campus is has really enhanced over the past couple years with its building initiative. It will look great soon. The new business building will be complete in less than 1 yeat

Campus Housing: Living on campus is nearly $20K, completely unreasonable.

Transportation: Transportation around the campus is fairly easy and not very expensive.

1 College Sophomore

Parking: Its near impossible to get parking near wherever you need to go. The only time you get lucky finding parking is during the holidays.

1 College Sophomore

Campus Food: It's usually awful but there is sometimes the food can be surprisingly decent

1 College Sophomore

Parking: It's honestly awful there is no good place to find decent parking without searching for awhile

Transportation: Transportation around Drexel is very convenient since the school is located in a major city like Philadelphia. There are different subways, trolleys, and buses headed from different areas of Philly into the Drexel campus, and even if you happen to miss your transportation or need to make an urgent trip (i.e. late for class or an exam) there are always cabs driving through the streets. Drexel itself has shuttles as well, but they are not as convenient as the city transportation since they only offer transportation locally.

3 College Senior

Technology: Like most schools, the computer labs are crowded especially during exam periods. It is very helpful to bring your own laptop, since WiFi is available, because it would definitely make it less of a hassle transferring data, printing, working on assignments, etc.

Off-Campus Dining: The great thing about Drexel is that it is situated right between University City and Center City District. So if needed, there are close-by shops like Jimmy John's and so on, but if you are looking for delicious gourmet food around Center City, it's not too far of a travel. (It's even faster if you have a bike!)

Weather: I grew up in the tri-state area, so the weather is normal to me. The only reason I gave a B+ rating is because the snow in the city streets can be a little annoying. Especially if you have a car, I know I was snowed in plenty of times due to the plowing trucks. On the plus side, classes were normally cancelled when public transportation and the streets gave any inconvenience to students.

Off-Campus Housing: If you're not okay with being in an urban location, then you're not going to be happy with off campus housing. The reality is that Drexel is right in the middle of Philadelphia. If you go 10 blocks in any direction the area could get what some might call "questionable". However, it is very easy to find affordable and better quality housing and from my experience I usually felt safe.

Parking: At the University itself, parking is terrible. All of the spots are metered and can be hard to find. Its better to park off campus a few blocks if you intend on being there all day. Or, if you live within the area most students just walk to class or take public transportation since its much more convenient.

Majors: Drexel's co-op system is great. While I thoroughly enjoyed my major and loved the faculty, the internships I had helped me realize that I did not actually want to stay in forensic psychology. During my junior year, I became interested in industrial psychology and have decided to pursue Human Resources instead.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Some students complain about the "Drexel Shaft" screwing up their scheduling or billing, or a poor professor. The truth is that students will find red tape headaches and unfortunate instructors at just about every university. As long as students are picky about the professors and classes they enroll in, they can surely guarantee a positive academic experience. The University is filled with incredible professors that are more than willing to impart their professional wisdom. The Drexel Co-op is Drexel's strongest selling point, and many students come here specifically for that program. Some can't wait to graduate and zip through their classes, concentrating more on their co-op, as they feel it gives them more valuable experience. This vocational approach of the student works against the joy of the college learning experience. Some students scoff at the idea of taking electives in other academic concentrations, which they might enjoy or which could make them a more well-rounded person.

The hurry to graduate is mostly because of the fact that co-ops usually require students to stay at Drexel for five years. Students load up on courses when they are in school, try just to pass them, and complete their programs as soon as possible. This does not need to be the case, and the students that realize this earlier on tend to be immensely happier than the aforementioned students. It's unfortunate that this facet of students at Drexel feels this rush, but most of the other students relish their college experience and the various benefits Drexel has to offer. Most students are thrilled they went to Drexel in the end. The co-op is an invaluable experience that puts students ahead in the job race after graduation (it also beats any menial college job).
