4 College Junior

Party Scene: The campus all round is always lively. Being in the city makes it acceptable for lively entertainment whether its being put on by the school itself of an outside venue.

4 College Junior

Athletics: The Drexel Men's Basketball team has been extremely active and constantly progressing in their achievements. They have accomplished many victories over the course of the last two years and will continue to push their limits in reaching each victory.

4 College Senior

Academics: Great engineering program with well-educated professors.

4 Recent Alumnus

Transportation: There is campus transit and also tons of public Philadelphia transit. Campus transit is free for students, which is preferable of course.

Drug Safety: Since Drexel is in a major city, drugs are everywhere. However, it's all on the student to make sure that they avoid this problem.

Health & Safety: The campus is made safe by the public safety workers who patrol the streets during the day and night. There are also emergency poles every few blocks that serve as a connection to the police department in case of an emergency.

5 College Freshman

Local Area: Philadelphia is an awesome city! There is nothing not to like about it and there is so much going on. There is a lot of sports spirit and excellent dining options. Being close to UPenn is great as well.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Drexel does a good job of giving out scholarships to many of the accepted students here. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to see the financial aid process.

3 College Student

Campus Quality: Co-op is cool. Greek week is more like Greek month. Homecoming is interesting from a freshman's perspective.

3 College Student

Campus Food: The dining plans work well if the dining hall gets tiring and more variety is in order. The dining dollars are well-needed.

3 College Student

Off-Campus Housing: The appartments aren't too far from campus. At least 30% of off_campus housing is technically still on campus. The cost is acceptablr and the safety is adequate.

3 College Student

Athletics: Huge disappointment in not having a football team. However the men's basketball team gets a lot of support and has one of the best home court advantages. The women's team won the wnit this year on the home court, very exciting to experience and celebrate!! Other teams have gone on to play in NCAA tournaments as well this year.

5 College Student

Local Area: There is a huge variety of events that can be found in close proximity to the school or nearby within the city.

Campus Housing: No matter what kind of dorm style you're looking for. Race and Van R are nice suite style dorms. Kelly is the most traditional dorm style building. Millenium is nice on the outside, but the rooms are small. Towers and Calhoun get a bad rep, but they're good halls for meeting lots of people. North and Caneris are sophomore dorms, and they hold all the way up to seven people.

All of the Greek Houses are essentially row homes, except for the ones on Powelton Ave. Theta Chi, TKE, Pi Kappa Phi, and Lambda Chi are the only ones that have their own house, otherwise, the houses are duplex style.

University Crossings and soon-to-be Chestnut Square are nice student apartments that are right next to where classes are, which is super convenient. There are lots of houses that you can rent rooms in just off of campus which just require a little more of a walk to get to most places.

Local Area: Philadelphia is one of the greatest cities in America. There is endless things to do and see. People for the most part are welcoming and warm.

5 College Junior

Campus Food: There is countless options on and around campus. If you can think of the style of food, it can be found. Plus the local Philadelphia fare is by far the greatest.

3 College Junior

Party Scene: 5 Min from Center City Philadelphia, the night life is endless. Greek life is also involved in plenty of night activities.

5 College Junior

Athletics: The sports program make an attempt to involve all of the student body. Drexel is not known for its sports, but the program strives to win.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: I am not really interested in sports, the only club I participate is Karate. Drexel's Karate club is really amazing, we won almost every tournament. Although I was only a white belt, but my perfomance is equal to the yellow belt from other school.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I am currently in Culinary Science, and the faculty of this Department is awesome! I've got a lot of help from them in both my academic life and my process to find a coop. Culinary Science major provides an adequate amount of knowledge from both science, liberal art, and culinary art. There're many options for coop in this Major, but you'll need to plan it carefully. For example, if you're not good at cooking in fast pace, you should take as many Food Science course as possible so you might get an intern in lab or reasearch field.

4 College Junior

Campus Food: Lots of dining option are available, both through campus dining, and the various restaurants/food trucks located in the vacinity.

5 College Junior

Majors: I love my program. I am in the newly founded custom designed major program, and though it involves extra work on my part, I love the freedom to choose my own path and decide my own curriculum.

4 College Junior

Scholarships: It's fine, there aren't super helpful, nor are they unhelpful. The best way to get financial aid at this school is to do really well in HIGH SCHOOL.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: There is every type of option imaginable nearby since we are located in the middle of the city.

5 College Junior

Campus Housing: Campus is a fun place to live, and its great that you are located to close and don't have to worry much about safety.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Some students complain about the "Drexel Shaft" screwing up their scheduling or billing, or a poor professor. The truth is that students will find red tape headaches and unfortunate instructors at just about every university. As long as students are picky about the professors and classes they enroll in, they can surely guarantee a positive academic experience. The University is filled with incredible professors that are more than willing to impart their professional wisdom. The Drexel Co-op is Drexel's strongest selling point, and many students come here specifically for that program. Some can't wait to graduate and zip through their classes, concentrating more on their co-op, as they feel it gives them more valuable experience. This vocational approach of the student works against the joy of the college learning experience. Some students scoff at the idea of taking electives in other academic concentrations, which they might enjoy or which could make them a more well-rounded person.

The hurry to graduate is mostly because of the fact that co-ops usually require students to stay at Drexel for five years. Students load up on courses when they are in school, try just to pass them, and complete their programs as soon as possible. This does not need to be the case, and the students that realize this earlier on tend to be immensely happier than the aforementioned students. It's unfortunate that this facet of students at Drexel feels this rush, but most of the other students relish their college experience and the various benefits Drexel has to offer. Most students are thrilled they went to Drexel in the end. The co-op is an invaluable experience that puts students ahead in the job race after graduation (it also beats any menial college job).
