Party Scene: Most good parties are not on campus but slightly outside of campus in a house.

Health & Safety: We have very good public safety officers. They're usually always around and willing to help in any way even if you just need someone to walk with.

Majors: I love the program I am in. I am learning exactly what I was hoping I would be learning about to achieve my goals in the future.

Greek Life: Most people involved in Greek Life are cliquey but not completely exclusive.

Local Area: I love being in Philadelphia. We are within walking distance of center city and so many other exciting activities.

Guys & Girls: Most guys are either shy or extremely obnoxious. But there is also a good amount of guys who are pretty nice but not that attractive.

Weather: Coming from the greater Philadelphia area, it's what I'm used to. Some students are surprised by the cold, but it is definitely something you can acclimate to. There isn't usually too much precipitation, and it does get somewhat hot in the summers.

Overall Experience: Drexel has fantastic professors, great academics, an awesome environment, and the co-op program is extremely educational.

Drug Safety: Alcohol is a very common topic, and many students start drinking in their freshman year. I didn't drink (more than once or twice) before I was of legal age. I had a great time even without alcohol.

Off-Campus Dining: There are a variety of pizza places, chinese places, and others. There are trucks offering halal food, Philly food, different fusions, and all kinds of things. Restaurants in the area are extremely diverse as well.

Health & Safety: Drexel campus police are ever present. Even walking to my off campus apartment I usually pass at least one, sometimes two at night. I always feel safe on campus, and I even tell prospective students about how fantastic the police are here.

Administration: Drexel has very strict policies, which aren't always enforced. There are policies written such that a pencil can be considered a weapon on the case that they want to get you in the most trouble that they can. I've never heard of such strict prosecution happening, but I'm not the most informed in that area.

Academics: As a computer science major, co-op options are available everywhere. I went to San Francisco for one of my co-ops, and it was a blast. The workload can sometimes be hectic, but it's definitely worth it.

Academics: Professors at Drexel are fantastic, the courses offered are diverse and interesting. While being a Computer Science major, I've taken classes about Tolkien, King Arthur, the History of Ancient Science, and Jack the Ripper.

Campus Quality: Drexel is constantly undergoing construction to better its facilities. We have recently finished a new Rec Center, Media Arts Building, Dorms, Biology Building, and are working on even more.

Campus Quality: Drexel student life involves some of the typical partying (if you want, not required), staying up and playing board games, watching bad movies, or going to enjoy parts of Philadelphia. Being in Philadelphia is one of the biggest advantages Drexel has, as we can go to all kinds of museums, go to all kinds of restaurants, and even more.

Greek Life: Most Greek organizations on campus have a positive reputation. There is the occasional reference to members of a specific organization all being jerks, or all being particularly loose, but those tend to be because someone holds are grudge or for an unsubstantiated reason. This is coming from someone that is not a member of Greek Life.

Transportation: Philadelphia's public transport service, SEPTA, is very good. I personally don't like traveling on the buses, but between trolleys, trains, subways, and walking, I can get almost anywhere in the city with relative ease.

Scholarships: Drexel has a lot of different types of financial aid. A lot of it is merit based, but there is also plenty of need based financial aid. The A.J. Drexel Scholarship in particular give up to $26,000 a year and all students are eligible. Specific departments also offer scholarships to students, some require application, and others require nomination by professors.

Technology: I'm a computer science major, so I work in the CS labs. We use a modified Ubuntu install on the lab computers, there are Macs available in another location on campus, and Windows machines are very easy to find. I've never used the Macs, but the Ubuntu boxes are great. The Windows machines have a terribly slow login, but are good otherwise.

3 College Freshman

Campus Food: The food is decent, and there are typically options for everyone, but there is very little variety and the dining hall closes at 8 every night. The dining area near the dorm is open much later, but the food is pricey and the meal equivalency program is pretty much non-existent.

3 College Freshman

Technology: The wireless internet on campus is pretty crummy at times, but the wired internet in the dorms is incredibly fast. Never try to use wireless in the library though - the internet speeds are faster if you use the guest network, and that's saying something.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: On campus, it's extremely rare to hear any cases of criminal activity. Students will often get texts and emails alerting them of crime in areas off campus, but these are typically late at night and in areas that are unsafe to be walking alone.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Some students complain about the "Drexel Shaft" screwing up their scheduling or billing, or a poor professor. The truth is that students will find red tape headaches and unfortunate instructors at just about every university. As long as students are picky about the professors and classes they enroll in, they can surely guarantee a positive academic experience. The University is filled with incredible professors that are more than willing to impart their professional wisdom. The Drexel Co-op is Drexel's strongest selling point, and many students come here specifically for that program. Some can't wait to graduate and zip through their classes, concentrating more on their co-op, as they feel it gives them more valuable experience. This vocational approach of the student works against the joy of the college learning experience. Some students scoff at the idea of taking electives in other academic concentrations, which they might enjoy or which could make them a more well-rounded person.

The hurry to graduate is mostly because of the fact that co-ops usually require students to stay at Drexel for five years. Students load up on courses when they are in school, try just to pass them, and complete their programs as soon as possible. This does not need to be the case, and the students that realize this earlier on tend to be immensely happier than the aforementioned students. It's unfortunate that this facet of students at Drexel feels this rush, but most of the other students relish their college experience and the various benefits Drexel has to offer. Most students are thrilled they went to Drexel in the end. The co-op is an invaluable experience that puts students ahead in the job race after graduation (it also beats any menial college job).
