Off-Campus Dining: Drexel's options are pretty poor, everything that is good is on Penn's campus, but its in walking distance so its worth it

Health & Safety: So many Drexel alerts about robberies and shootings

Greek Life: My fraternity is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me... and that's all. All the sororities are either evil bitches or ugly mammoths that would never have a chance of getting in a real school. The fraternities are ok, some cooler than others. But greek life here is just okay overall.

Academics: I've switched majors a few times, but overall the coursework is highly intensive and beneficial towards future endeavors. The only setback is that some of the required courses, even later into the college years, are completely irrelevant and just a waste of time.

Academics: Drexel's graphic design program offers various aspects of design that you are required to learn, so that when you walk out of here you are proficient in multiple fields, which is important because design is pretty vague and the competition is extremely tough. The workload is decent. I am able to manage it, and still have fun on weekends. Some of my professors are great to work with, some are a pain in the ass. Overall, its a lot of work and can be stressful and difficult, but in the end I will have developed skills I could have never learned if it wasn't for this program.

Overall Experience: I have been able to take courses that allow me to go out into the community and are not just sitting in the classroom.

2 College Junior

Academics: I have not found many professors that have inspired me.

Academics: Facilities are pretty bad. Curriculum is okay. However, I am basically making my own curriculum because I came in as a transfer student. There are great internship and job opportunities for my program

Majors: I came in as a transfer student so my experience was different and did not need to go through an extensive process.

4 College Junior

Majors: In my program I am able to study abroad and have 3 internships that each last 6 months.

Off-Campus Dining: There is not many options right near campus but if you go about 10 blocks, there is a ton of variety!

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: Just like most college campuses, people don't report being sexually assaulted and therefore it is not addressed. However, I do think that if it was more publicly know that there is support and confidentiality, it may become less of a problem and there would be less people joking around about sexual assault.

Guys & Girls: Because Drexel is such a big school, with such a large variety of different programs and majors, there is no typical student.

3 College Junior

Administration: Public Safety is always around which definitely provides a sense of safety, especially at night. The enforcement of policies somewhat depend on who the person that is enforcing it is.

Greek Life: Greek Life is a big part of Drexel however, there is very little pressure to be a part of the Greek culture if you choose to.

Local Area: Drexel is in the city of Philadelphia. However, it is kind of removed from the rest of the city and you have to leave campus to find shopping, good restaurants, etc.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Drexel does not help students find off-campus housing, we are left completely on our own to figure it out.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: I knew that I would not be eligible for financial aid so I did not apply. However, I am rating it based off of the experiences of some of my friends.

5 College Sophomore

Local Area: Philadelphia always has something going on. There is almost always some sort of sporting event going on. The nightlife is in full swing .When the weather gets warmer they have concerts in the park and daytime activities. In the winter they ave ice skating at local areas and do little Christmas villages as well. We have easy access to the Franklin Institute, Old City, Rittenhouse Square Park, The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Academy of Natural Sciences, the Philadelphia Zoo and countless other attractions.

Diversity: The diversity at Drexel is great. There are so many people from all over the US and the world. I have met so many new people and learned about many different cultures. The economic background is mixed greatly as well. I know people that are at the university because of great scholarships and others who had the money to come here. Everyone at the university brings something new to the campus.

Off-Campus Dining: Philadelphia is a huge restaurant city so the variety of cuisine is quite large. The cost of the food ranges greatly but what you pay for is what you get. There could be more student discounts since many of the restaurants are right in the heart of University City. The best restaurants are in center city or Old City which is just a subway or car ride away.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Some students complain about the "Drexel Shaft" screwing up their scheduling or billing, or a poor professor. The truth is that students will find red tape headaches and unfortunate instructors at just about every university. As long as students are picky about the professors and classes they enroll in, they can surely guarantee a positive academic experience. The University is filled with incredible professors that are more than willing to impart their professional wisdom. The Drexel Co-op is Drexel's strongest selling point, and many students come here specifically for that program. Some can't wait to graduate and zip through their classes, concentrating more on their co-op, as they feel it gives them more valuable experience. This vocational approach of the student works against the joy of the college learning experience. Some students scoff at the idea of taking electives in other academic concentrations, which they might enjoy or which could make them a more well-rounded person.

The hurry to graduate is mostly because of the fact that co-ops usually require students to stay at Drexel for five years. Students load up on courses when they are in school, try just to pass them, and complete their programs as soon as possible. This does not need to be the case, and the students that realize this earlier on tend to be immensely happier than the aforementioned students. It's unfortunate that this facet of students at Drexel feels this rush, but most of the other students relish their college experience and the various benefits Drexel has to offer. Most students are thrilled they went to Drexel in the end. The co-op is an invaluable experience that puts students ahead in the job race after graduation (it also beats any menial college job).
