3 College Student

Party Scene: There are some house parties, but they get lame.

4 College Student

Scholarships: If you need it, you usually get it!

4 College Student

Campus Food: Quick and easy access to all of your options

3 College Student

Campus Housing: It's pretty steep for what it is.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: Co-ops have been a great experience. Overall I think Drexel is a good school, but not a great one.

Overall Experience: More finance classes are needed and the times they are available needs to be increased.

Off-Campus Dining: OK, but nothing to write home about.

3 College Junior

Administration: I've never had a problem.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: Had no problems in the beginning, but this year with the change over to quarterly billing its been a nightmare. I got short changed and they don't care. Also is virtually impossible to talk to an actual person who works for Drexel and not a third party.

2 College Junior

Campus Food: No longer take a food plan. I cook my own.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: Dorms are average. Twice had to get out of two different dorms due to sprinklers going off and causing damage. Social atmosphere is fine. Convenient to classes. Housing process is fairly easy to navigate.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Philly has a great food scene

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I have a small scholarship, but the school is extremely pricey and my scholarship doesn't do much to help with the tuition.

2 College Senior

Scholarships: There were times where I had to do the math for them because they forgot to subtract my scholarship from the tuition. However, they were helpful when I needed more help with getting aid or when I was struggling with classes.

3 College Sophomore

Administration: They are okay as long as you're not doing anything illegal.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Funding is difficult because Drexel is so expensive.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: There are always parties to go to. They may not always be fun, but there is always somewhere to go.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Food: There is a lot of places to go to eat and they always have room.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: The athletic facilities are beautiful, easily accessible and state of the art. However nobody really pays that much attention to sports accept Women's Basketball and Squash. Drexel hosts the annual US Open Squah Tournament.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Where I live off-campus is pretty convenient, but it was definitely hard finding a nice place that didn't refuse undergraduate students and didn't charge an arm and a leg rent every month.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I eat out more than I should and I definitely visit the same places repeatedly as a regular, however there are ample new places to try!

3 College Sophomore

Administration: Drexel is really intensely strict when it comes to drug and underage alcohol use, they basically kick you out if caught. As for protests, they are basically non existent and not because students don't try! Drexel breaks the liberal spirit and just wants the moolah, even if that means going against the population's wishes.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: I'm considered "Independent" on FAFSA which makes my financial aid situation both unique and trying. Drexel Central can be very helpful, but it has also been a pain in my booty at times! Fortunately the people in there are really nice and understanding. Unfortunately Drexel just wants as much money which is why I have filled out for so many scholarships.

3 College Sophomore

Party Scene: I'm not really a partier but I do like to have a good time with friends. Drexel parties just make me bored and they get shut down before they even start basically, but luckily Philly has a really great nightlife!

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Some students complain about the "Drexel Shaft" screwing up their scheduling or billing, or a poor professor. The truth is that students will find red tape headaches and unfortunate instructors at just about every university. As long as students are picky about the professors and classes they enroll in, they can surely guarantee a positive academic experience. The University is filled with incredible professors that are more than willing to impart their professional wisdom. The Drexel Co-op is Drexel's strongest selling point, and many students come here specifically for that program. Some can't wait to graduate and zip through their classes, concentrating more on their co-op, as they feel it gives them more valuable experience. This vocational approach of the student works against the joy of the college learning experience. Some students scoff at the idea of taking electives in other academic concentrations, which they might enjoy or which could make them a more well-rounded person.

The hurry to graduate is mostly because of the fact that co-ops usually require students to stay at Drexel for five years. Students load up on courses when they are in school, try just to pass them, and complete their programs as soon as possible. This does not need to be the case, and the students that realize this earlier on tend to be immensely happier than the aforementioned students. It's unfortunate that this facet of students at Drexel feels this rush, but most of the other students relish their college experience and the various benefits Drexel has to offer. Most students are thrilled they went to Drexel in the end. The co-op is an invaluable experience that puts students ahead in the job race after graduation (it also beats any menial college job).
