At Dickinson, computers are used extensively, both academically and personally. Many professors use Blackboard for classwork, out-of-class discussions, and quizzes. Students can connect their personal computers to Dickinson’s ResNet for a fast connection to e-mail, the Internet, and the on-campus network. Anyone who doesn't bring a computer has many public-area computer facilities available to use, all with the same fast network access. Dickinson supports both Macintosh and Windows platforms, and the college computer labs are all very well equipped and technologically up-to-date. The library has three separate computer areas with machines operating off Windows XP and Macintosh platforms and also loans laptops to students using the library facilities. The HUB Microroom, the 24-hour computer lab on campus, has an equal share of Macs and PCs. All computer labs at Dickinson have access to a laser jet printer that prints extremely fast and is free of charge to use.

Morgan Field and the surrounding dorms, the library, the HUB, the Quarry, and the new Rector science complex are all wireless accessible, with the rest of campus not far behind. In the meantime, the ResNet (Residential Network) is available to all students in dorms and is relatively fast and problem-free. During mid-term and finals weeks, be prepared to fight for a computer if you want to work in the library. Many students are unaware of other available labs on campus, and some of the best studying can be accomplished in Rector or the basement of Old West, where few students spend their time.
