4 College Junior

Weather: When it's really nice in Chicago it's awesome to hang out on the Lincoln Park campus. However, during the Polar Vortex it wasn't that fun.

Chicago weather gets hot and it gets cold. Spring and summer are beautiful—there are tons of things to do in Chicago when the weather is nice, like cool off at the beach or take a walk through the Lincoln Park Zoo with some ice cream. However, be prepared for chilly summer nights with a light jacket. And, never underestimate how cold it can get here. When the wind whips between buildings, it can be described as a bitter cold. The No. 1 accessory on everyone's back-to-school list is a heavy, long coat. You may actually find it becomes fun bundling up for the weather with all of the stylish cold-weather accessories available.

DePaul students have come to view Chicago’s fickle weather with humor and endearment. Where else in the world must city residents constantly carry umbrellas, bathing suits, hiking boots, snow pants, sundresses, and thermal underwear at all times? Students have become experts at making the parka/ear-muff combination bar-acceptable in an effort to maintain their active social lives year-round. One of the benefits of DePaul is that students get a six-week break between Thanksgiving and New Year—so jet off somewhere warm if you can.
