Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
  • Apply early decision.
  • Definitely get an interview. Denison is really more interested in the individual than the statistic.
  • Make it clear why you are a good fit for Denison—make sure you do research about the community and understand the mission statement.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • Apply even if you think you can't afford it. Denison is very generous with its financial aid packages.
  • Buy something with Denison insignia on it. Almost everyone owns something.
  • Do not overcommit yourself. Try your best and only do as much as you can!
  • Don't wear your keys on a lanyard. It'll give you away as a freshman.
  • Get involved! Join a club, but do not be intimidated! It is a great way to meet people!
  • Get to know your academic adviser and switch if you have to, once you figure out your major.
  • Go through rush! Even if you do not join, it is a great experience, and you meet a lot of people!
  • Going to June orientation is a must.
  • Have an open mind about everything. Whether it is people, classes, professors, or sports—just give it a chance.
  • Make sure the major you choose is exactly what you want. Take some time to explore your interests.
  • Nothing is more useful than proper time management.
  • Orientation activities aren't always fun, but you should do them anyway.
  • Socialize and go to parties your first week of class. Do not be afraid to talk to everyone and as many people as you can! Everyone is in the same boat as you.
  • The workload is tough. Books are heavy.
