Off-Campus Dining: One street away from Denison's main entrance you will find a variety of small bars and restaurants. Moe's BBQ has great food and a full bar upstairs with different entertainment on different nights such as performing bands, trivia nights, karaoke, open mic, and private parties. There is also a couple pubs, Mexican food, ice cream shop, Asian food and a CVS to stock up on necessities and snacks, all on one convenient street. For students that don't have a car on campus, these options are great and walking distance.

Administration: Denison is a school of great academic rigor in classes but still understands that we are teenagers that do not always obey all rules and regulations. Rules are meant to be broken once in a while, as long as we still get our work done and aren't harming anyone, it's not a big deal. Administration is pretty lenient and attendance policies vary from professor to professor

Party Scene: It is an awesome party scene for such a small college. Of course, it doesn't compare to the party scene in major universities but I love that such intelligent groups of people can work hard all week on their academics and party just as hard on the weekends! When you go to the senior apartments on the weekends, there is almost always about 10 different parties going on. The best part is that even though these are frat/sorority parties, everyone is welcomed after 11 pm and if you get bored (which you won't) there are always other parties going on in very close proximity.

Scholarships: The financial aid process went fairly smoothly for me being a mid-year transfer student. However, I had to make multiple phone calls to make sure everything was being processed since it was not being updated on the website and had to make more phone calls to make sure they processed my student loan quickly.

Campus Food: Overall the cafeterias usually have pretty decent food, especially breakfast. On certain days, the cafeteria food isn't great but there is always the option to get good at Slayter and even better food at The Nest after 8pm. including flatbreads, melts, mac & cheese, etc. When you want to have a quick meal during the day in your room, Curtis Express offers great to go options but the downfall is that they run out early and is not an option on weekends.

Campus Housing: My freshman college dorm is very spacious compared to the usual small dorms that small universities have. It is also very clean and quiet when it needs to be. Staff maintain the building clean and functioning but sometimes the rooms get cold, especially during the winter (which is long).

Local Area: There could be more to do off campus.

Majors: I have not had an internship yet but I hear it is great.

Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus majority of the time

Greek Life: Greek life is very supportive towards everyone and non greeks and greeks mostly get along.

Off-Campus Dining: There are not many options when it comes to off- campus food in the area unless you have a car.

Health & Safety: There are many support services available and campus security is there to help you. They will pick you up if you feel unsafe walking from a certain area and they drive around campus to make sure everything is okay. We also have a blue light system. In general the entire school strives to improve health and safety measures on a regular basis.

Scholarships: They gave me a good amount of money but I still had to take out outside loans.

Health & Safety: Denison is currently under review for various title IX violations, but they are working hard to change the issue of sexual assault on campus. This year has been better than past ones in terms of numbers and hopefully that will continue to go down

Scholarships: I got the amount of money that I needed for freshman year, we'll see how the next few years go

4 College Freshman

Administration: The biggest issue is the medical amnesty policy which isn't very clear and confuses a lot of students. This is really unsafe because some people are too concerned about getting in trouble to call for help

Majors: Depends on the department, some of the smaller ones such as classics, mathematics, physics, or a foreign language are better because there is much more individual attention with faculty, but the departments themselves are also smaller which can come with its own issues

Off-Campus Dining: If you have a car then there are a decent number of chains in nearby strip malls and small business options in nearby towns. Granville has all the basic dining options of a college town, which is nice because for the most part it doesn't really cater to students. There is a good pizza place, good coffee shop, good bbq, bland chinese and mexican food and a great frozen custard and soup place. The issue with all of these places is that they are down the hill, about a 10 minute walk.

Campus Housing: Housing is overpriced, specifically the senior apartments, but it includes everything that you need. There are full kitchens in every major dorm and most of the smaller ones which is nice. I live in quiet housing as a freshman, I like it because when I want to go out on a friday or saturday I can, but when I want to sleep on a wednesday night I can as well. Supposedly the housing lottery is a nightmare if you are picky, but if you just want a basic two person room you should be fine

Athletics: Some are really great! Others are not the best.

Off-Campus Housing: Denison is a 4 year residency school, so all students live on campus. The only exception are a hand-full of student thats live within a certain mile radius away from school, even then some of those students decide to live on campus.

Off-Campus Dining: If you get tired of the dining halls many other eating options are not far from you. The only downside is having to walk up that big hill, but you get to burn the calories!

Campus Food: Denison recently changed from Sodexo to Bon Appetit, which is just slightly an upgrade. After the first week or two you will basically have the lunch and dinner options memorized. The best places to eat on campus are Slayter and Huffman.

Diversity: Even if some of the students do not accept ones diversity they tend to stay away and not cause problems.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

Pretty much everyone who comes to Denison ends up absolutely falling in love with it. The academics at Denison are exceptionally superior and definitely challenging. If you are willing to work hard and play hard, you will find yourself extremely satisfied with Denison. The academics alone draw students to Denison, but the incredible experience, the unforgettable people, and the beautiful atmosphere keep them here. It is not hard to find a lot of people that are extremely passionate and thankful for their Denison education—just ask any Denison alum. Denison students are proud to be Denisonians, and they would not have it any other way. Denison is by no means perfect. You will find something that will bother you at one point or another, but that goes along with every school. You get what you give at Denison, and if you make the best of everything, you will have an incredible experience. Denison truly becomes your second home, and you will find yourself missing it when you are not on campus. Denison is unlike any other school: Not only do you live among all of your peers, but most people are also friends with their professors, which results in a true feeling of belonging. No one can deny that being good-naturedly teased by a professor doesn't engender feelings of acceptance. A lot of students also value the safety of the campus and how easy it is to get from place to place. The students that are unhappy with Denison are generally displeased with the small social scene, lack of diversity, or the immense workload—all things which are a matter of one's individual perspective. At the end of the day, one cannot deny that the academic opportunities at Denison are seriously incredible. Denison not only has countless opportunities to study abroad, but it also has an amazing internship program and unbeatable alumni connections, helping students network and get jobs after college. Overall, Denison has everything you need for the perfect college experience.
