4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Large variety in different places to eat, with ranging price. My biggest complaint is the limited late night options.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Some sports are better than others. The community is huge supporter of basketball and football. The school sport teams do a great job at cheering on other sports.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Its your average dorm size, love the fact it has AC and heating.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: They have quality financial aid, I didn't apply soon enough so missed out on the good scholarships.

4 College Freshman

Majors: The quality of internships really depend on the major you have. There are great athletic training, nursing, psychology and Christian leadership. A few years ago the school really began developing its internship program so in the next few years they should all be at the same level. Some are more time consuming than others, but none I have heard about at least have been extremely difficult.

4 College Freshman

Academics: I am a psychology major. The program as a Freudian emphasis but fairly represents other psychology perspectives. One teacher is amazing. The teacher will bring the best out of you if you apply yourself to the assignments. The other teacher is mediocre. He does a good enough job at teaching the material, but he won't push you beyond your current level to grow as a student. Also, if you aren't a boy and/or athlete you will never spark a connection or bond. If you are interested in clinical psychology this is a great school. In the Mitchell area there are places you can get internships and jobs at places that aid with drug abuse, alcohol abuse, sexual abuse and special ed programs.

Local Area: Coming from a bigger city transitioning to a small town life was hard. The limited hours of shops and food places was a shock. There are also perks to the small town life though, the community is very friendly and welcoming. You will see people from the community at most of the sporting events.

5 College Sophomore

Parking: there is plenty of parking within a short distance of the school.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: Entry into the Education program is difficult, but not impossible. They are looking for motivated, capable students, because these students will be responsible for the education of the next generation. It is a huge responsibility.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: We have awesome opportunities to get involved in the local school systems and gain valuable, hands-on experience

4 College Sophomore

Academics: DWU has a reputation for great academics in an individualized setting.

4 College Sophomore

Local Area: Mitchell is a great community to be in. We share it with one technical school that pulls in a lot of students. It is fair to say that our population shrinks every summer when college kids leave town!

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: We get along great. Everyone has good friends among both genders.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: We have had almost no incidents of crime on campus.

3 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: I have never felt pressured to join the party life. Less than half the students are interested in drugs and alcohol.

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Just fill out the FAFSA, and the financial aid office will do the rest!

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: The whole school turns out for athletic events, and the mornings after a big game, no one talks about anything else!

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are several options for off-campus dining, and students have their favorite hangouts.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: I love the individualized attention from everyone. I have a great relationship with all my professors, and they all take an interest in me personally. They are passionate and knowledgeable about what they teach, and it is a pleasure to sit in their classes.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: South Dakota's weather can be challenging, but the campus is small enough that students have no problem making it to class, even in bad weather.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Lots of places to live.

2 College Freshman

Campus Food: Food is usually undercooked and most people just make themselves toast or cereal so they don't get sick.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: If need be there is a security service if someone would want an escort back to their dorm

4 College Junior

Campus Quality: It has gotten better with the new student life staff.

3 College Junior

Campus Quality: There's free bowling, free movie nights, and many other events provided for the students.
