THE REAL WORLD – Entering college made me realize a piece of what the real world is like. Students attend college for different reasons and you'll see a different reason each and every day. Many are about their social lives, others are forced by parents. Many like myself want to learn and make money. Some students play no games as far as their education. It's very diverse, whites, african americans, hispanic, and even indians. We make MEC what MEC is! We stick together with clubs, organizations, and student government. Despite the different races, that has never stopped us from doing what we're suppose to be doing.

NOT FAIR – I attend CUNY. It is much cheaper than universities and private schools, however that doesnt mean its still affordable! Im not granted fianancial aid. My mother makes $50,000 a year. She's a single mother with 3 children and we're all enrolled in school. It is hard on my mother with bills and mortgage. I had to work 2 jobs in order to pay for my tuition. I want to learn. I want to be in class. My classes were dropped this semester because I didnt have my tuition paid in full. Im here struggling while kids who get fianacial aid are taking advantage by not showing up to classes for months, or even after getting back their refund checks just stop coming to school. It is not fair to students like myself.

Honestly, when I got accepted into Medgar Evers College, I didn't want to go, and I thought I would not like it. It is an amazing school! There are so many great opportunities, there is a lovely student community, and the faculty and staff are very supportive, helpful, and understanding. I love this school!
