Overall Experience: Half the professors in the program are great, know their course material and how to profess it very well, the other half seem to be in need of a refresher course, or retirement.

Class size is great, although this program is designed to fail more than half of its students after the first semester, just be mindful of that, be ready to work hard, and everything should be just fine.

Tuition & Financial Aid: As said before, I do not understand the academic weighing system for this program, nor how course schedule was designed to begin with. We start out with over full-time status in the first two semester, then come the fall we a dropped down to part time status, just to be bumped back up to full time status again in the spring. The Financial Aid department is slow when processes request, getting time sensitive documents and wavers in, and few people seem to know what it is they are talking about when attempting to answer the students questions. They are also impossible to reach via phone.

AS for tips, be sure to go early in the morning as soon as they open and talk to the short gentlemen with glasses and black hair, I believe his name is Chris, he knows what he is doing and will be able to help.

Campus Resources: The administration system needs work, attempting to contact various department by phone never works, when visiting these departments in person you will either be meant with a multiple of different answer to your questions each time the subject is brought up, or you will be sent to different departments in hopes of finding someone who knows what they are doing and what they are talking about.

Academic Flexibility: Zero flexibility, you are either able to conform your life around this program or you do not get in

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: As I said before the students are what make this school shine. Students come from different countries and different walks of life. They, above all else, make going through this institution worth it

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: As I said before many students from this college go on to receive job in there field, but from what I have been told the job market in this particular area is becoming over saturated. This may lead to potential difficulties later on

Student Body: Hostos Community is a predominantly Spanish and African American college with a few Caucasian and Japanese students mixed in as well so the racial diversity is quite noticeable. Many of which are either fresh out of high-school, or looking to further their own education to receive better paying jobs. I, being the token Caucasian student in my group, have not seeing any or receive any discrimination at this college.

Career Services: Seeing as I have yet to graduate, I really can not answer that question, but it does seem like this particular institution offers a decent career center and alumni network. Many students, if they are able to make it out of the program to begin with, are were able to secure jobs in their respected fields. As to whether or not that was through the assistance of Hostos or not i can not say for certain

Academic Experience: First off, in the beginning you are fed a bunch of lines that make it seem the program is really designed to help students excel, and the staff works right along side with you and will go to the ends of the earth to ensure that you have all the tools necessary to pass these courses, unfortunately that is not the case. Granted half of the professors really go out of there way to really help students and try to keep things fair, but the other courses, which are much more difficult, are taught by professors that seem like they are either not familiar with the course material or at the very least not up to date with current methods and standards when professing there material. Then there is the whole financial aid debacle that happens every year where the financial aid department waits till the last minute to get the wavers in to ensure that students are able to receive partial aid for the summer, on top of paying, what seems like a unfair amount, for the academic weight or number of credits each course is worth. Lastly the program after the second semester wants to cut out at least half of its students by academically honest or dishonest methods. Beware and be smart if choosing this program

Academic Experience: I do not understand how the radiography credit system for classes is decided, it seem unfairly weighted in an attempts to prevent the student from accessing their full financial aid package each semester.

Academic Flexibility: The flexibility of classes has not been amazing since there are so many students in the school, classes get taken up pretty quickly.

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: It has been amazing! I would most definitely choose to go to my school again.

5 College Sophomore

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: Student body is very very large, therefore a lot of diversity.

3 College Sophomore

Tuition & Financial Aid: In general, I believe college should be free anyway. I do not believe anyone should pay money to expand their mind.

3 College Sophomore

Career Services: I do not know to much about this.

5 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: You really are challenged when it comes to my major, which is radiology. The competition to get into the program is crucial.

4 College Sophomore

Academic Experience: Most of the professors are great, the rest not so much. The english department goes above and beyond. The english professors are the best at Hostos.

5 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: Hostos Community College is known for being one of the best community colleges to go to for careers in nursing, radiology, or dental hygiene.

4 College Junior

Student Body: Well we do have a large group of Hispanics from all over Latin America, we also have diversity, not only in nationalities but in genders, religions and ages.

5 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: Our Financial Aid Office/Lab is the BEST. They are very helpful and always in high demand. It is less expensive that John Jay College and the Professor are caring as well as knowledgeable.

Academic Experience: While we do have 100% of each department knowledge of other departments, they are willing to pass other information along to students. They are trying to reach that 100%.
