Health & Safety: There are police walking around and there is a police office on campus, but be aware, there is no security or police who is posted at the dorms 100% of the time. That means desk staff( students who work at the front desk) are the dorms' first line of defense. Yes, this is terrifying. if something happens, they call the police rather than one already being there. This needs to change now.

Also, Coppin is surrounded by gang activity and violence. You wont see much during day, but it is not uncommon for students to get mugged while walking around campus at night. I even know people who were robbed at gun point. So basically unless you have a car, it is a terrible idea to leave campus at night. There is not too much that happens on campus itself though.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There has been numerous times when I've heard about someone getting robbed both on and off campus, but health has never been an issue. Whenever there was an incident of a student being sick, the paramedics were right there taking action.

5 College Junior

Health & Safety: The safety on campus is extraordinary, there's always campus police around and a means to get help if need be. There are blue safety towers throughout campus with safety buttons, if you need any type of help or assistance you push the button and help comes right away. Aside from that, campus police constantly check campus both inside of campus and out.

5 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: you always know that they are there and feel safe to walk around even at night.

Health & Safety: Campus security does a good job by keeping campus safe. They respond in a timely manner and they take their job very seriously. Campus crime is unfortunate since it is a small campus and you may not know who to trust. Personal safety requires you to know your surroundings and always make sure at night to travel in a group. I feel safe on campus and I am pleased with the service.
