Administration: sucking the money from you

Administration: It is annoying to have more than two guests in a dorm room at a time if they do not live in the building. Doing a couples night with my friends (who go to a different school) and my boyfriend was rough.

Administration: I understand that there is needed strictness because this is a dangerous city, but I wish that more situations had exceptions. I've had some pretty drastic situations happen due to campus security that became extremely inconvenient.

Administration: Eh administration is often totally messy and hard to understand and get in contact with but I suppose they do care about the school and that matters a bunch.

Columbia is a fairly liberal school, so strictness is not very. . .strict. The feeling around campus is that Columbia encourages you to be yourself, but not to cause discomfort to others.

In the classroom, each professor will set the tone for his or her own classroom. Respect is a must. On campus, Columbia suffers from some vandalism, but other than that, there aren't too many problems with behavior. In the dorms, this is where strictness is actually enforced. Nothing extreme, but if you are doing something they told you not to do (like smoking weed), you'll get busted.

Facts & Statistics

Visitation Policies
Each dormitory has its own set of visitation policies, but two general rules of thumb are: no more than two guests at a time, and no more than three nights stayed in a row.
