4 College Junior

Overall Experience: College of the Redwoods is a good Junior College. Many professors have come from either larger Junior Colleges or Universities. Unfortunately It is difficult to get to from most housing and work. Also if you aren't in one of the larger programs for an AA it is hard to get the classes as they are only offered during specific semesters. For General Education or science, math, or business transfers I feel that CR worked great.

Overall Experience: I've only been to orientation and placement testing. But so far my experience has been awesome!

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I love coming here because it is like a family, there are lots of resources and a staff who cares and appreciates each student. Its also really affordable for students that have low income.

5 College Junior

3 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: Really set intheir time frams, has long classes sometimes. Not the best if your busy to go full time

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I've gotten some grumpy teachers and bad classmates. Ive also really had to struggle with parking and figuring out schedules and money stuff with them. But overall i love this school for it''s beauty, size and gorgeous veiws

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The small class size is something that i really love about this college because you can really get one on one time with professors. But it is also a downfall because classes fill up quicker

3 College Freshman

Student Body: It's not the most diverse school , and there is really no new social interaction. Basically you come here with your friends and stay friends with them. It's not too often people drift out of their set circles.

4 College Freshman

Tuition & Financial Aid: They are very helpful with helping you organize and get the most money and help that you could need.

4 College Freshman

Academic Experience: My program is a program that only is offered as night classes, which works really well for my schedule. Not a heavy workload for my program, for other programs the workload may get very heavy. Not a lot of on campus job opportunities for students, but with my program an internship is required.

3 College Freshman

Academic Experience: Most of the professors are way awesome, with the few horrible ones in between. The registration process is very simple, quick and self-explanatory. It's only okay because there is not a lot of campus life, and not a lot of clubs or on campus activities.

Campus Resources: Good staff throughout the school in all it's different resources. The library has ample room, bookstore offers great product and programs.

4 College Senior

Student Body: People are pretty accepting of everyone in my experience.

4 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid office is very helpful at offering assistance and resources.

3 College Senior

Campus Resources: The Library has access to a variety of resources that are helpful to learning. The new buildings are very aesthetically pleasing.

3 College Senior

Overall Experience: It depends on the class. Most classes are small and you have easy access to the teacher. There are no that many classes offered. I personally have only had issues with one teacher here. I would say that the courses are of decent quality, not outstanding, but decent.

2 College Senior

Online Courses: I did not enjoy my online courses. I found the technology to be extremely difficult to work with, the workload was almost non existent, and the peer-to-peer interaction could be a bit hostile. Communication with the teacher was difficult because of the technological issues.

4 College Senior

Tuition & Financial Aid: The financial aid office is slow but does its job. I have had no issues.

3 College Senior

Academic Experience: I feel that the academics here are decent considering it is a community college. Most of the professors are fairly knowledgeable and only some of them are really hard to deal with. The registration process could use work though, there are a lot of bugs in the system and I have had to go in and fight for my classes with the counselors on multiple occasions. Overall, College of the Redwoods is not a school for everyone, it is small and does not have a whole lot of resources and its emphasis is on the Biology program.

4 College Senior

Academic Experience: I am a biology major and I am glad I am doing my lower division at College of the Redwoods. The program is really straightforward, the teachers communicate what they want really well, and I feel challenged in many of the classes without it feeling like a total overload of information. There is also an emphasis on practical exams which I like, but many students do not,

Campus Resources: The library is the best resource on campus. It is in a really nice building, is open good hours and has a plenty of resources to help you with your classes. The Learning Resources Center in the same building is also decent as well, there are tutors that are pretty capable. There are not very many campus activities, but the athletic events can be fun sometimes. College of the Redwoods makes up for that though in how beautiful the campus is.

Campus Resources: I love this campus! Before I came here, I would always be told that the campus was absolutely gorgeous. This is completely true! There are Redwoods galore as well as many other trees like Grand Fir, Douglas Fir, and Bishop Pine. There are beautiful lawns and flowers. In the distance there is often fog settled in the trees. I feel very thankful I attend such a gorgeous campus. I also love the library when it is colder, it is a quieter place that is great for studying. The library has wonderfully comfortable chairs that I love to sit in while I review lecture notes, study my textbooks, and take notes. There are plenty of computers to use in the library, not super advanced technology but works perfectly. The library has a metal roof that makes a wonderful noise when it rains really hard. I could go on all day about how much I love this campus.

Overall Experience: There are work study jobs available on campus. These can work as a great introduction to a field, and great experience for the student majoring in the sector they are working for. A degree from College of the Redwoods is very valuable because it provides an easy transfer from College of the Redwoods to Humboldt state with guaranteed acceptance. Humboldt State University offers classes in Ecopsychology which is a field I'm greatly interested in and I may want to pursue a career in it, so this guaranteed acceptance is very valuable to me.
