4 College Junior

Overall Experience: Majority of the courses and professors are excellent and provide good stimulation to learn and answer questions. They also are more than willing to help a student succeed in their courses.

3 College Junior

Overall Experience: There are many opportunities to work with local organizations and internships to gain experience and the university has grown to have a credible reputation of students entering various work fields with much success.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: The university attempts to provide the safest environment for the students with strategically placed emergency phones and police patrols, but can be difficult with proximity of certain neighborhoods. Late at night and early morning are robbery attempts on student/faculty and non-student personnel in the area of the campus.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: I don't live on campus, but a few classmates do and they find it to be rather convenient in location to things, getting to classes, but at times there issues with crime due to proximity of certain neighborhoods.

3 College Junior

Greek Life: I personally have never attempted to join a fraternity, but I know they do have their advantages and create a brotherhood.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: The university is in an urban setting with great diversity in student population and courses to choose from.

Overall Experience: Overall the learning aspect of CSU is very good. Professors are usually easy to work with and understand, classes are not overly difficult but still challenging and class sizes can range from very small to very large though usually 20 students per classroom seems average. The course requirements that do not involve your major sometimes feels like a waste.

3 Recent Alumnus

Health & Safety: There are security measures in place such as campus police officers, security cameras, emergency stations, and a safety app. However because we are in the inner city many potential dangers come from off campus or the people involved in crimes are not usually students.

Greek Life: Greek life isn't really a big part of Cleveland State. There are a few options for Greek life but the atmosphere and incentives to join are not overwhelming. There are always posters hanging to advertise activities, tables and people to talk to about joining if you are interested and updates concerning Greek life is often included in weekly newsletters about upcoming events. There seems to be no stigma between those who are involved and those who are not, it is not overly pushy but there if you would like to participate.

4 College Freshman

Athletics: The sport teams here are very good. They get a lot of attention and recognition. The school even has extra sports for non athletes to have something to do in the rec center all the time. Sports and clubs are a big thing at CSU

Overall Experience: Overall, my experience here at Cleveland State Univeristy has been great. It's my first year here and I really enjoy it. I live on campus an it makes it a lot easier to stay focused. At first my classes were difficult but the professors and TA's work along with you to make sure that you do well. Another thing that is interesting about this school, is how diverse it is. There's people from all over the world that attend here. I have made a lot of friends from France to Australia to Puerto Rico, to Africa and so on. They have so many programs here for whatever you are interested in majoring in as well. The options are endless. However, one thing I would change about the school would have to be the pricing of tuition and other school expenses but so far, it has all been worth while.

5 College Sophomore

Greek Life: I am on greek life and i think it is the best thing that I have done in my college career. I made so many friends. It forces me to keep my grades up. I volunteer so much because of it and that is what the community needs.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: My school is very diverse and that helps to know about different places around the world. It is close to home. I am in a sorority and I think that is the best thing I have chosen to do. And there were so many to choose from. The classes are short which keeps everyone's attention.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: My first semester was really great!

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: The advising office is really good about helping students find internships and awesome opportunities.

Cleveland State's motto is "the city is our campus" and with a setting like this, how can a student not enjoy all it has to offer? The city opens doors to many opportunities. No matter what major you are, the teachers are personable and easy to build a rapport with, and, most importantly, they help students gain a better understanding of the real world. With 16,000 students, you get all of the advantages of both large and small campuses, which is hard to find at other schools. The size of the classes helps students better understand the material and makes it easier to become knowledgeable in their desired areas. The city provides plenty of learning experiences that cannot be found at many other colleges.

The majority of students at Cleveland State will probably find a reason to complain about something that has taken place on campus, but the majority of those students, when asked, said they would pick CSU all over again. Once you come here, it will be hard to see yourself anywhere else because, like stated before, it provides you with many opportunities and advantages that might not be offered at other colleges. CSU is not just a place to learn what you need to know for a career, but it is also a place to grow and interact. Without the experience of Cleveland State University, a student could be missing out on the next door to their life, and that is a chance that should not be taken.
