Administration: The Clemson Police are always out and are very strict. Clemson does well with it's dorm strictness though, allowing students to call for medical help without getting into trouble if someone is showing signs of alcohol poisoning. You can get 2-3 violations without getting into any real big trouble.

Party Scene: Clemson is home to MANY house parties and Fraternity parties for people under 21 years of age. People who are 21 and older usually go to house parties and go downtown to bars, but mainly go to bars at that age. Clemson doesn't have any big, nice clubs except for a few small ones that are more like bars than clubs.

Diversity: The diversity on the Clemson University campus is prevalent. Many people of different races/ethnic backgrounds and religions are seen. Clemson is very accepting of diversity and makes a huge point to all students that diversity at Clemson is very important. The major proportion of students at Clemson are white, however, there are many people of different races, religions, political beliefs, economic backgrounds and sexual orientation.

Academics: Clemson has great programs to offer you. The professors are great, but they are hard. They will help you as much as they need to so you can get the desired grade. Class discussion is encouraged in smaller classes as well as larger classes. Clemson will also help you make sure you are in the right field of study.

Academics: Workload is manageable. Different networking opportunities.

3 College Freshman

Administration: All incoming freshman are going to drink so the first offense should not get them into too much trouble . but it is better to be safe than sorry.

Campus Quality: I feel like their should be more promotion of activities that does not include sports. Also, better clubs and activities to do that do not all fall at the end of a semester when people need to focus on school work

Transportation: The school offers a bus system which is alright, however the bus seems to be slow. A few of the off campus living communities offer a shuttle to campus for those that live there. Parking is really the biggest annoyance. You are required to park far away from the part of campus that school buildings are on and often times it's even hard to find spots there.

Scholarships: For out of state students, Clemson does not offer much financial aid. I received a few student loans from the office. It would be nice if Clemson had as many scholarships for out of state kids and they did for the instate. However, I do understand it is a state school and there are regulations.

Off-Campus Housing: There are many all student developments and all your friends can live in the same community if you wish. There are apartments cottages, and houses available to students. The commute from them all is relatively short. The only thing annoying is the parking situation on campus.

4 Recent Alumnus

Party Scene: Ther are some pubs in downtown clemson as well as fun things to do in Greenville (45 minutes away). Many students go to fraternity parties as well.

Local Area: Lake Hartwell and the mountains give Clemson local outdoor activities.

Technology: The computers on Clemson campus are really good. The network/ wireless access is really fast. Each student also gets $25 on your account for using the printer. Its really awesome!

3 College Junior

Parking: The parking is okay. You might have to walk a while before you get on campus. However, we do have buses to come pick you up if you do not want to walk.

Party Scene: The atmosphere at my school is wonderful. I love the energy that you get at night and during the day. Clemson have a lot of traditions and its just wonderful!

Scholarships: So far I have not had any issues with my financial aid but I have had friends that have had minor issues. For the most part financial aid is fairly easy and can be applied to most of what you need for class.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There is not too much security that are on location. However, there are many places around campus with an emergency button that someone can press if they are in danger. The only issue is if you are around one or any other person that can help you.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Clemson is a very small, quaint town and near campus there is a select number of restaurants that one can walk to. However, throughout Clemson as a whole there is not too many diversity in the restaurants, but there are places such as Anderson and Seneca that someone can drive and choose just about anything.

Majors: I haven't done an internship yet because I am only a freshman. But I will definitely be doing one in the future so that I can get some hands-on experience. This will help me learn what I'll actually be doing and increase my chances of getting a job in the future.

4 College Freshman

Majors: I am definitely struggling with engineering, and it does stress me out a great deal, but I'm not unhappy with it. I know what I want and am aware of how difficult it will be to get there. Once I graduate as a civil engineer, I can honestly say that I would not do it all over again, given how hard it is. But civil engineering is what I've always wanted to do, so I'll do what I have to to make it there. I have no concerns about finding a job in my field. Engineers are always needed, and if you do lots of co-ops and internships, your chances of finding a job relatively fast are pretty high.

4 College Freshman

Majors: For me, to be an engineer has been a bit of a struggle my freshman year. I find it very difficult and challenging. But even given those facts, I still do enjoy/like it. One day, I'll get to do what I've always wanted to do and all this hard work will pay off. The workload is a lot and tends to be difficult, but there are always people available to help, whether it's other students or faculty. With engineering, it is highly recommend to intern or co-op so that more job opportunities will be available to you when you graduate. Most engineers who graduate with lots of hands-on experience are offered a job immediately. So although, it's hard getting through it now, it'll most definitely be worth it in the end.

Overall ExperienceWhat's this?

View student contributors

Clemson offers an amazing college experience. Students return for the rest of their lives to see how the campus has changed and to support the Tigers. Although it is located in a small town, the school is big enough that there is never a dull moment, and the location only makes the student body closer to one another. As anyone who has been to Clemson knows, the students' blood here is orange, and the Clemson spirit is contagious for almost anyone who attends.
