The professors actually care about their students and their academic success. They are always available for additional help in their offices and are more than happy to help.

Now that I'm a sophomore and I am starting to get a grasp on the campus around me, I frequently have this conversation with my friends. If you could choose to transfer to a different college or if you grew up your whole life right by Christopher Newport University, would you still have chosen to attend here? Yes. There's no doubt about it. CNU offers something that most colleges cannot unfortunately. Our campus population is under 5,500 students. This allows for that one on one connection with your professors that seriously advances your studies. With such a relatively small campus, the engagement from students is incredible. A large percentage of students have studied abroad and the majority of the population here are in multiple clubs and organizations. As a freshman last year, I applied and was accepted to he on the Student Diversity and Equality Council and I honestly believe I wouldn't have been encouraged to do this with a large school atmosphere. We also have amazing club fairs that fill up our fieldhouse with all of the organizations and Greek communities coming out to recruit new members. This is how I found out about the Fishing Team and now it's something I look forward to every single week. Now I could go on and on, but the bottom line is that I would trade this college experience for any other.
